I feel like "drunk French girl helped me find my hotel" and "someone gave me a liver" aren't quite on the same level

These pictures didn't restore my faith in humanity but they did inspire me to not be the type of person I hate. The more I lose my faith in humanity the bitchier I become, when in fact it's mean ass bitches that made me lose faith in the first place!

I want to be the drunk girl that helps foreigners find their hotel. I want to give the proverbial liver to my fellow humans.

very true. drunk french girl gave up her whole night and risked her life driving while intoxicated. liver person probably would have died in a tragic accident whether they had agreed to be an organ donor or not.

Yeah, I've had many similar things happen to me. Back in the daze it didn't even seem that unusual for people to help others, automatically. City folk seem to be far less likely to help others these days. I remember the first NYC blackout when everyone helped anyone who needed it, and there were many great stories that came out of it.

Thanks to the OP for the link! Yeah, powerful images of what ppl can do if they're not always thinking about themselves.

You make it sound as if cheating on your husband/wife is par for the course, and happens all the time (and worse, something that SHOULD happen)... why do people bother getting married in the first place then? Reading comments like these makes me think I'm probably better off without this relationship nonsense. And people are surprised that some have very little faith or belief in humanity as a force for decency and goodness. Can't imagine why... lol

this was meant as a joke. one comment doesn't really reflect the consensus opinion about marriage anyway

please don't let one thing you see on-line shape your opinions on marriage

No it doesn't, but I've seen a lot of people saying that, and things similar to it.

If it was just that one thing, I wouldn't. But like I said, I've seen a lot of people taking that frivilous attitude towards marriage/relationships... and even if all those people were only joking like you, it is true that the divorce rate is very high. I dunno if generally marriage is valued the same way today as it used to be. Maybe it's just my perception, but I'd say that it isn't.

I've long dreamt that I would get married, and stay with that same man forever... but I guess that only happens in fairytales... lol

I think that the institution of marriage in america is in trouble. there are still lots of folks who have happy marriages though. it may take more work now to make relationships work

blessings to your dream, may it come true

I think you are right there, on both points. I think the UK mirrors America in a lot of ways, and I think marriage situation here is very similar to the one over there.

    And thank you.

I was referring more to the family. Even if the guy was a registered organ donor, his family could've said no. They always have the final say, and they're making that decision in the middle of grieving.
