Food the Brits have that America doesn't

Beef extract very nice.

 

I’ve ordered Marmite and Vegemite. I like the texture of vegemite better but Marmite tastes better.

YES, I like beefy things.

We also have these for cooking.

 

I used to see references to this on a British show from the 80’s.

DO you have this?

 

Not that brand but we have several. Usually it’s either country gravy. (Cream gravy ) which is more southern. And the brown gravy. Cream gravy goes with chicken fried steak which Texans claim to have invented. (It’s a lot like schnitzel so I’m not sure ). But definitely no bread crumbs. The steak is battered with egg and milk and then seasoned flour.

 

One of you Americans should really do a thread on Food The Americans have, that the Brits don't.

 

How can we compete with a country that loves spotted dick and makes pudding out of blood.

 

Ooh Black pudding is lovely.

 

I do like it for breakfast but definitely not common here.

 

I actually prefer the Canadian baked beans. Not at all keen on the British ones.

 

I have always eaten beans on toast which is not common here. Then I started watching Brit television and saw it’s a go to food at least in the North of England

 

It is in your blood, back to your original family roots.
Strange when you look at it that way. x
