so with the wax you just used it really sparingly?? there is no build up?
i'm getting ready to start mine and i have seen the pics of people who use wax vs not using wax and yours look great... so i'm just wondering how you got them so nice.

mosschild... they are only nice now because they are just about two years old... I used wax WAY Way too much... its definitely not neccessary, and makes ur dreads feel yuck, but it kept them looking more like dreads for a little while... i just couldn't stand how it felt and stopped using it. so far no ill effects with mold or funky smells, so I'd say some wax use is safe.... but why do something you don't need to.

And Chaos... my wraps are usually stiff until after the first wash. I had a hemp wrap in that was knotted and it took ages to soften... but at least the stay where you put them... :)

tanna, did you do a lot of root flipping or crocheting? your locks have a unique texture!

when you root flipped did you find a lot of loops created by hair getting snagged?

not at all. I find i have way more loops now that I don't. However the parts that were root flipped are much MUCH harder than the parts that were backcombed and the new growth. I'm curious to see if it actually does weaken them, or the opposite, but only time will tell.
