Good idea! Useing a makeshift barge to move the building materials.

Wood shingles on the outside and roof. Look very nice ,but are somewhat expensive. You have shingle mills up there and you can buy directly from them They are the lightest roofing material and very watertight if laid correctly. They will last for 20-30-years-maybe longer- if left alone--and longer with some maintainance.Invite me up and I'll do your siding and roofing for you when it's time ,if you decide on them. Or I'll line you out on procedure. Sounds like a cool way to live-right on the water.

anyone is free to come visit! the work would also be greatly welcomed! The area gets a lot of rain, like a swimming pool sized rain drops.... so I have really been thinking lots about how to make everything water tight :) I was planning on lots of silicone sealing things, lol

I was thinking of making the large barge into a community building, after all the materials are made into floating homes.

I was hoping to have a large space to use as a theatre/community hall/dance disco lounge/etc!!!

or! it could just be a big room for people in sleeping bags! when all those travelin hippies stop by!

I am assuming lots of tourists will want to stop by... as there are hot springs less than 50kms away, whale watching, surfing, and lots of beautiful coastal scenery!
