There was a petition drive to collect enough signatures needed to get a constitutional amendment for medical mj on the ballot.. 683,000 signatures needed and 1.1 million collected in a few months. 82% of Floridians in favor. So the attorney general takes it to the supreme court saying that it is misleading and will lead to widespread use (as if 9 out of 10 Floridians don't already blaze) because the wording of the amendment says something like 'or any condition the dr feels might benefit from the use of marijuana' So, even though the ballot initiative process has been met, it's now up to the supreme court to decide if it can be placed on the ballot in November. That's so fucking frustrating. I'm really tired of living with overbearing state and federal gov'ts. It's not supposed to be this way.
Oh shit I thought it already passed in Florida. And I hear tour frustrations where I live it's going to be even harder to sway the populace to having MMJ. Even though bordering FL. There is talk of it though, as our friends out west are so far laying down a good basis. We can only hope and pray and continue activism I suppose.
Isn't most medical marijuana giving for a chronic condition? I just wouldn't want that on my record. Any employer or insurance company would be willing to use that at any moment.
it just kinda worked out that way. I did have a few people wanting to rent a building I have to grow in cuz it's in an industrial park a long way from parks and schools :mickey:
This law like all others will pass if there is some sort of financial benefit to the politicians in charge.
It depends on the state, and what defines chronic to you? Chronic pain? Chronic insomnia? Or you mean basically if someone is dying. Here is the text from the amendment "Debilitating Medical Condition" means cancer, glaucoma, a positive status for HIV, AIDS, ALS, hepatitis C, parkinson's disease, crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, or other conditions for which a physician believes the medical use of marijuana would likely outweigh the potential health risks for a patient. http://election.dos.state.fl.us/initiatives/fulltext/pdf/50438-2.pdf#page=2&zoom=auto,0,792
The problem you'll have is all of the country areas of GA. It's weird, in FL there is plenty of country and rednecks but even they smoke weed. Another hurdle is back a few years ago someone did a ballot initiative that basically said any future initiative needs 60% of the vote. It was implied that this would keep FL the way it is and from wacked out people changing the law. I watched in disgust and disbelief as it passed. So in other words even if it does get on the ballot it will need 60% instead of simple majority, which to me goes against the basis of this country. I still think it was pass with at least 65% though. It also doesn't offer any protection for growing your own medicine. So it will be completely regulated by the health dept. It's up to them to license growers and distributors. Which is bullshit, but it's better than nothing.
I was thinking chronic as in back pain, insomnia, anxiety. Seem like in washington they come up with all sorts of real and maybe not so real reasons. I just wouldn't want to be tagged with something for the rest of my life.
Oh you mean Pam Blondie? err Bondi, sorry lol Well she was 'Miss prosecutor,' what do you expect, her to appear soft on drugs? Hey c'mon shes fighting obamacare, doesn't that make you a little happy? (from her website) Miami herald article Republicans? no fuckin' way... Read more here: http://miamiherald.typepad.com/nake...n-rhetoric-and-gop-voters-.html#storylink=cpy Hey they can't be all bad ... Republicans? no fucking way!? Anyway, good luck
I wondered how that could pass with all the repubs down there. It has been introduced here in WV again, and with all of our Dem being in reality repubs, I don't see it happening here either. I wish tho.....
http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/01/27/3896249/medical-marijuana-headed-to-florida.html :ssmokeit: Just about everyone smokes weed here, it really has nothing to do with party lines. It's part of the culture here. So in the event of voter initiative I'm sure it will pass. This is the first time someone dropped millions to pay signature collectors per signature.
