I'm just starting to read about this myself so here is the link to a news story: https://www.rt.com/usa/348500-stabbing-rally-sacramento-california/
"The Traditionalist Working Party held a permitted rally at the Capitol. The group was met by counter-protesters. The groups began fighting on the Capitol lawn just before noon." -USAToday http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/06/26/calif-protest-turns-violent/86409804/
A bunch of hot-heads, I see. The Traditionalist Worker Party members, often described as a neo-Nazi group who have links to white supremacy and far-right causes, showed up for a planned rally at the Sacramento Capitol, where they were met by activists from Antifa Sacramento counter-protest, local media report. Antifa is an anti-fascist movement. https://www.rt.com/usa/348500-stabbing-rally-sacramento-california/
It's nice to see people stand up to the KKK, but this isn't the right way to do it. The KKK and other fringe groups have as much of a right to speak their mind in a public sphere (as long as they do it legally) as anyone else. Censoring them can set off a very ugly precedent.
I was watching that earlier on CNN. The Klan members (Traditionalist Worker Party) and The Golden State Skinheads were surrounded by a large group of protesters who were pelting them with projectiles. The rally organizer said they were holding a peaceful demonstration and blamed ‘leftist radicals’ for starting the violence. Yeah, right Hotwater
Exactly! When a group uses violence and hatred to intimidate and silence the opposition, no matter how immoral the said opposition is, they ironically resort to the same low-level barbarism white supremacist groups exercises in the past.
"Yeah, let's start burning Jews in ovens so we can keep the nazis from doing it!" Which is exactly what AntiFa did. Likely so totally stooopid.
Ok so maybe they believe in throwing the baby out with the bathwater, but their heart is in the right place Hotwater
Doing that, protesting the fascists in that manner, is no different than what the fascists themselves are doing. The best way to protest something like that is, from my experience, is to ignore them. They hate that.
