If room is an issue, dumbbells and kettlebells are great as well. Hell, even body weight exercises alone can get you ripped if you don't have the money for weights and hate the gym. Pullups, pushups etc. can really build a great upper physique.
You don't need to spend a lot of money on the gym or equipment. These are the books I use. They show how to use bodyweight and elastic bands for resistance to get all the benefits you would get from a gym. Not 'bodybuilding' books per se, but written by and for martial artists or anyone to train at home or on the road for a strong, toned body with minimal equipment

Hamstrings are sore as fuck. This takes me back to freshman football after doing lunges for the first time during two a days.
Right, I enjoyed form tackling drills though. I may have dished out a few hits that made some people either forget about afternoon practice or not want to come back. It was amusing to see the afternoon practices thin out the first couple days.
Did you have like 100 kids on the freshman team as well? Some schools out here had to use duplicate numbers lol. Looking back on football practices.. that was good exercise. That was probably the best shape ive ever been in.
We had about 100 or so tryout but I think only ~ 60 made the team. We didn't have duplicate numbers. I was in pretty good shape then as well. The other best workouts I've probably done was the fall/winter leading into Senior Season of Baseball. In the off season coach basically had us do a mandatory 'voluntary' training program. He couldn't technically be involved with it because I guess that is against some regulations of HS baseball but we were basically all held accountable to go to them by one another. There was a lot of work with medicine balls and we had protein drinks and stuff with the program. It definitely paid off, we were expected to be good but we were quite dominant that season, winning our Divisional Section.
eh, it was hell as a freshman but a lot of fun after that. of course, we didn't have one of those "freshman teams" you guys speak of, just 50-60 players from grades 9-12 all together. it was also more like 2 1/2 weeks.
Went to the gym, did 4 sets of barbell squats and 4 sets on the bench press before dropping a 5 pound weight from four feet onto my left big toe. For fuck sakes. Now I am home, with a throbbing, black and blue big toe, and feeling like a wuss for not finishing my workout. A dude would have finished his workout, right?
My usual stuff. Though I had a fat weekend. And I feel fat. Even though today was decent. I still feel fat.
Usually if a person gains a few lbs/kgs over the weekend, it's water weight, especially if they are otherwise watching their diet and regularly working out. When people eat more than they usually do, a good number of those calories will inevitably be coming from carbs, which cause water retention. I know that after a night of carbs, it's not unusual for me to gain 5lbs overnight. It goes back down after a day or two.
