First, props to Michelangelo for creating such a fine, aesthetically pleasing piece of art, NO HOMO. The proportions are spot on and this is what many call the "classical physique", which in the golden age of body building in the modern era (50s-60s), classical proportions were achieved naturally by hard work in the gym...as seen in this statue of David. Bodybuilding was known in Greek culture way back in the day...here is what one of the leading philosphers said on the topic, “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” ― Socrates Now granted this is all in vain, but keep in mind this type of physique is not that out of the question to come by. Anyone can have a GREAT physique with training a few years consistently. Then or now. Matter of fact, gymnasium is from the Greek word which means to "exercise naked" and all over the Greek and Roman world were Gyms for training and exercise all over and in most major cities... As for obtaining that, well it just takes a good diet, and consistent progressive resistance training, something the world knew then and now. How do you think Micheanglo sculpted that statue of David? By his imagination only? No, he studied living examples. oh and I am on my way to looking like this already...In fact I think David could use more mass and has some weak areas as I pointed out...Yes I know this is vain.
routine 1 of 2 today: barbell bench press, narrow grip pull downs, leg press, calf raises, leg extension, leg curls. 3x 4 minute rounds on the body bag 15 or so minutes of stretching (can finally touch my toes)
Those are his oblique muscles, they are developed well and can look like love handles. David is probably 12% body fat in that sculpture. David likes to bench press and do seated leg curls the most.
I know all this shit dude. Obliques will get all out of proportion if you do to much twisting sit ups. And yes a lot of that sculpture was idealized by Michelangelo,.(who in fact was gay.) The more mass part is just a modern day thing and I think It's silly. Alot of those body image come from too many dudes on steroids setting the 'ideal'. It doesn't represent what can be done in most cases with diet and routine alone. Genetics is a major factor as well. Look at martial arts fighters bodys if want an ideal. That ain't for show. They are lean. 'Muscle bound' is a real thing. It slows you down and it's difficult to maintain. Look at the bodys of say, Stallone or Schwarzenegger as they're aging. That shit all turns to flab. Granted Stallone is still taking 'roids to do the movies, but he's gonna be fucked when he stops. he's probably already fucked in the 'nad department, lol Dang it they won't let me use either of the Stallone or Arnie example image extensions on this community Look 'em up and see for yourself Yoga body's where it's at mang. Not tons of bulk but lean and toned. You'll still look good when your 60 or 70.
Exercise enthusiasts talking to other exercise enthusiasts is like trying to listen to two atheists discussing life. Close your ears, nod, smile. they'll be dead soon.
You are always so witty, I love you. No lesbo. And to be on topic, I had a yogalates class yesterday. And I squat every day. #squatchallenge
Still doing the same or similar things as I was posting earlier in this thread. I just got tired of repeating myself.
that's why the stoned bump thread works better. those people don't remember posting the same thing every day.
