Set some goals man! Try to set a personal best on bench or any exercise really! Set a goal for a 2 mile time or somethin
Of course not. I meant every day that I do train....not every day literally. I'm training 4-5 days a week on average. Different things on different days. Some heavy days and some lighter days. I try to mix it up. I always take Saturday and Sunday off though. Edit to say....sometimes it's only 2-3 days if I'm busy or slacking but that's not usual.
well, don't you do that pretty much every time? i thought you were always supposed to aim to do a little bit better than last time.
I should say...by goals...I kind of meant that I don't have any races, competitions, etc. to prepare for.
i do that i guess. I try to push myself as hard as i can and that generally means ill be doing more reps/weight n stuff as i get stronger
I would completely agree with you. However, its interesting to note that some boxers, until recently would train 6 days a week. Its rumoured that Schwarzenegger trained for 7. And numerous boxers back in the 80s would also do 6 or even 7 in 7. I think for most people 3 full on days is enough. A bit of light exercise for 2 more days would be ok. But I think gyms and so called experts have people chronically overtrain.. to sell them "recovery magic formulas" and the like! haha Somewhere, I heard there's a theory of doing v short periods of interval training EVERY day. But I don't mean 20 minutes of intervals. I'm talking something like 3 or 4 x 20 seconds or so. For a short while, I did a weird 6 or even 7 days in a week programme. I did get tiredness but shortly after (3 or 4 weeks or so), I was amongst the fittest I've ever been. Maybe the secret is to take a typical program of 3 hrs fairly intense exercise over a week, and turn it into 6 days of 12 minute sessions. Then do the rest of that previous 3 x 1hr programme on just 3 days in 7. After that, maybe have 2 weeks off in 8. In other words do 3 days of exercise over 6 or 7 days.
did 50 mins on the elliptical this morning then 30 mins afternoon I need to workout every day hard to walk outside when there is a foot of snow and ice on the ground
the little grey cells need the exercise more then the body. fitness is not the power of the individual, but the capacity of species to mutually benefit each others existence as a species. if you say fitness, fitness is a relative term. fitness for what? to be a bumbling idiot with more physical strength then is useful to itself? without the sense to avoid self injury?
