I'm not sure how long i should wait before I wash my dreads for the first time. I've had them in for a week now and I feel like I should wash my hair, but I'm still not sure if I should. The dreads are forming but they aren't really tight yet, and I don't want to mess them all up if I wash too soon. Also was wondering when I do wash them for the first time, do I just wet my hair or do I use the special soap stuff as well?
I was kind of thinking I'd do something like this

    1. Wash my dreads
    2. Blow dry them til they are dry, and while blow drying, I was planning on hand rolling for a while to try to bring down the fuzzies
    3. Take a nap to recover from all the hand rolling, lol

If anyone could give me advice on this it would be greatly appreciated!

wash them with residue free shampoo. i use dreadhead hq, but dr. bronners is good, too. your dreads are going to get very soft and loose after the first time. if you still got those bands in, you should have no worries about any of them coming undone. but don't leave them in too long. i had mine in no longer than a month. i got the last out this week. you dont want your dreads to eat them up. i never rolled mine after showering but they're really frizzy. so if you dont like frizzy it will help to roll. if you use salt water 30 minutes to an hour before you wash. it kinda helps a little with tightening. umm. i washed mine about two weeks afer i got mine but if it really feels like it needs to be washed, then wash them. thats all i can think of right now, if i remember stuff i'll post here again. good luck with em

    A week should be fine.
I waited a week to wash mine and they felt a whole lot better after doing it.
Yeah, use the soap with it too. Clean, non-oily hair will tighten more efficiently
