I held out going to alot of concerts, waiting for my first one to be a great one... and boy howdy was it ever! Bob Dylan, 2 hour set, 2 encores... what a great friggin show that was. I did see George Carlin live, but not a music show, so I guess it doesn't count.
When I was younger my mom used to take me along to all of my dads shows, but I guess that doesn't count. When I was like twelve or something me and my best friend went to see Suzanne Vega at the folk festival in Dranouter, she was fantastic!!
i think my first concert was an amazing 1, i went to see Neil Young at the Air Canada centre for his greendale show which was ok, but afterwards when he performed Cinnamon Girl and Hey Hey, My My it was just insane. I loved it so much i went back to see him again when he came. It was just the best concert ive ever been 2
Phish at the Nickerbocker arena in Albany, NY. Was a great night that changed my outlook on everything.
Joe Cocker 1972, and my friend's dad went with us and sat with arms crossed the whole time. I didn't even like Joe Cocker, but it was a live concert and I had the chance so I went. After that I was hooked on live music though. It's so much fun. Still.
yikes! after reading all these responses, i know i am OLD. my first show was alan freed's big beat show of 1958. the performers included chuck berry and buddy holly and the crickets among at least 10 other acts. it was at the new york paramount theater and i was 6. unfortuntely i remember more about what i wore than most of the acts though i had convinced my mom to take me because i loved rock music. she thought it was going to be like a broadway show or a frank sinatra concert. haven't stopped going to concerts since. deezee
I don't know what's the first concert i saw anymore, but one of the first shows was Anathema on the attic of a renovated barn a few km. from where i live. Very cool in my rememberance.
here's one for the real 70s folks. first show that I needed a ticket? cw mccall. I went to lots of folk and BG fests, still get to a few. first "proper" rock concert was Kansas suported by Thin Lizzy on Kansas' Point of No Return tour. My elder brother loved keyboard bands.
Lou Reed 1973. The first show I took my eldest son to was Neil Young and Crazy Horse....I only want the best for my kids........
Thin Lizzy was my first concert also. I think from the same tour you saw late '78. They were opening for Nazareth.
Ozzfest, right after freshman year. I really only went to see Black Sabbath, though at the time i was stil listening to alot of that "crap".
The Who -summer of 1969 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD And I still love going to as many live shows as possible, over 100 in 2004 so far.
