Well its that time of year again to turn the clocks back.. I suppose like most mobile phone users you dont have analog clocks anymore. It just changes for you. I dont have any clocks that need changed either. I do have smoke alarms.

If you have those smoke detectors that need changed now is the time to replace batteries. Woopty doo right? ...

Lets be safe this winter with the heaters and fire, cords and Xmas lights.

Fire alarms have ten year non replaceable batteries... Not sure if they tell me in advance when it's time to toss them or if they just silently die.

I Was Afraid This Would Happen, My New Joint Has No Less Than 9 Smoke Alarms

But They Appear To Be Hardwired, Just Another Question For The Previous Owner

When He Comes Out To Show Me How To Drive This Place... :)

    Cheers Glen.

Hardwired are good... they still need a battery for backup when the power goes out.

They say you need carbon monoxide sensors when you have wood heat.... Right! Wood smoke drives those things batty.

What you need is a source of fresh air.

I never had any type of smoke detect device in my old country house. it was all wood burn....
I miss that crackling sound .. seemed like something to live for. Shitty electric mmm =lazy heat.. ha ,but I had some Eheat the old place too. sort of having some flashbacks. getting uncomfortable in this place.

Thanks Orison. I changed a couple old clocks and the microwave about 4 in the afternoon. I know we are supposed to gain an hour of sleep but Ember (cat) and Grace (dog) got up at the normal time...which is now 2am instead of 3am. They do not turn their clocks back.

My husband is a volunteer for the volunteer fire department (note that I didn't say he's a volunteer fire fighter, he doesn't fight fires, he just volunteers with the fire department, helping them out with little projects and stuff, he does communication for them when he's needed, like when a whole neighborhood up here caught fire on a windy day in May), and tonight (last night at that point) they all hung out in the dining room of the pizza place I manage and delivered pizzas with our driver and offered to check the smoke detectors in every house. If the customers allowed them to, if the smoke detectors were working properly, they'd get a free pizza, and if not, the fire department installed working smoke detectors for free. It was pretty successful and we got two brand new free smoke detectors out of it! We haven't had smoke detectors in our house ever, which is really screwed up after our neighborhood was in jeopardy the night of the wildfire and then my parents' house caught fire in June (smoke detector was dead, too, if my dad hadn't been awake to smell it, the whole house and they would've burned). So yep, my smoke detectors are working with good batteries. :D
