I have three sisters and we all agree without any debate or persuasion that our upbringings were all wrong. When you become a young adult you need to move away from home in order to find yourself. For someone in their early years of doing an apprenticeship they will not have a great deal of money. Going to university usually means living away from home. My point is that you need time away from your parents to consider your upbringing. Time alone is good: empty church, greenhouse at the botanical gardens, walk in the rainforest. I am a list maker as are my sisters, something my Mum would never do.
Geez, far as I know, no one has the ideal growing up; most far from it.What we make of it - is ours.
I never got the whole idea about "finding oneself". The whole point of life is to become someone other than what you were at the beginning.
