The salmonberries in BC look a bit different (they're not ripe here yet):

There are a ton of berries around this creek here in Silverdale, Washington but I don't know what is or isn't edible plus my husband is a weird-o and thinks they are filled with bugs or something. Those are pretty berries

bcmama, They look a bit diffrent because thoes are called Thimbleberry (Rubus parviflorus), they do grow in the vicinity of salmonberries though ... Thoes will be ripe next month for sure, and they are tasty as well..

    was just gonna say ^
thimbleberries are my favs i think, but its hard to gather a substantial amount of them.

i was thinking theyd ripen sooner down there. they were almost done flowering when i left a month ago though, so they must be close at least :)
theres fuck all to gather around here...
well a few things maybe, ive seen wild strawberries and blueberries and some edible greens.

I have never heard of salmonberrys. Do you know if they grow natively in Indiana? I would guess not because I am native have never seen or heard of them.
