They are replaying the Germany Portugal game on TV at the moment, just saw the Pepe thing, the headbutt was stupid, but that guy that went to ground after a wayward hand to the face, whoever he is, lol, deseves an Oscar nomination

There should be penalties and send offs for diving players I think in all sports.
A ref should be able to blow the whistle, walk up to them, "you're an idiot", red card.

Such a slow paced game. Games are sometimes 4 or 5 hours of mostly standing around waiting for something to happen.

Americans always say soccer is boring because of this. But I have a watched a few cup games it reminded me of hockey. Not allot of goals but there is always movement. At any moment a goal could be scored.

Yeah sorry, didn't mean to go off topic or bash anyone else's sport
I agree anakin, I always loved soccer/football the most because it just seems the most fluid. Always moving, very team oriented, like an animated game of chess really.

There's just so much finesse in a goal too,

Two games from Group H tomorrow, that'll be a good line up "Belgium v Algeria" and "Russia v Korea Republic" Anyone know what that means (south/north/both?)

Edit: And how could i forget?! Brazil and Mexico have at it tomorrow!!

This is one of those rare moments on hip forums in which people are actually discussing sports – savor it

i would rather watch the public transportation that could have been built for the cost of building the stadium.

Um.. thats where some of the money goes to themnax...

Unfortunately Brazil is very corrupt right now, a lot of the money was used to buy cheaper building materials and the rest was pocketed.

well yes, but not enough of it goes there, and a stadium for international ostentation when ordinary people don't have opportunities. my understanding, i'm not from there, but i mean infrastructure and wellbeing are why people put up with having governments. that's what they're for. so what i've heard, i'm not from there, so if you are you know much better then me, was the protesting started when they raised the bus fairs or something like that, and that the money to build the stadium came from funds that had been intended to build and maintain infrastructure and public transportation in particular, which is something that i'm a fan of anyway. (unlike athletic competitions about which i could care less).

So an estimation that close to half the population of earth will watch the World Cup.
I have a feeling that's highly exaggerated tbh.

And is that the final? I mean what is the "World Cup". One game? 2-5... Every game? If that estimation just includes any Hans, Fritz and Dieter that watches a single game then the whole NFL needs to do their analysis for every game throughout the season.

    Or something I dunno..

it doesn't say anything favorable about our species, when something like this can be more important then the kind of world we all have to live in.

I can't say much I have never been, my Uncle married in with a Portuguese Woman, and she was mentioning it, but I didn't really ask many questions, cause Brazil has stories like that 24/7

World Cup has been proven to end wars/potential world wars. So can we stop with the hostility towards one another and enjoy a game?

ending wars is good, but its the environment that's the real and eminent threat to humanities future, and that's where infrastructure enters the picture.

to each their own, by all means.

Are you in Germany? I can only imagine the madness there, and people celebrating xD

If you really meant that, you wouldn't be in every thread, going on and on about the same things.

Let people have fun and enjoy sports, for like a month every four years.
