you can't say it isn't exciting?

 

The last couple minutes where, penalty shootouts, took almost 3 bloody hrs to get there.

That was one of the more annoying games, 120+ minutes of play how many failed attempts at goal where there by each side, a couple hundred sheesh...then all decided by the pyshic ability of the dutch goalie


I'm the one that started a thread here weeks before the cup titled "Who cares about soccer" and I have eaten my words, have been sucked into this comp and on the edge of my seat for some games.

But that Dutch vs Costa rica game sums up what infuriates me about soccer, so annoying

 

What was annoying about it?

The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the complete focus of Costa rica on getting to the penalties in the end. They basicly only attacked on counter moments (without too much confidence) and played defense the whole game (which they did well). I said slightly because of course it is a valid tactic. And happily the dutch kept trying to score. So it wasn't a boring game either.
Oh yeah, that the audience boo-ed when Robben got the ball several times was slightly annoying too. Apparently not for him because he did great :biggrin:

I'm just baffled by it.
I mean 2 goals conceded early on would be ridiculous but 3, 4, FIVE!!!

I couldn't imagine a Brazillian throwing a goal or two at home in the World Cup.
Then I wondered if there was a flu epidemic or something/food poisoning.

But it was clear they were just garbage.
Shame really, I was hoping they'd atleast get to the final.

Oh well, 11 Brazillians looking to emigrate with "footballing asylum" hehe ...
