This includes women being drafted in the military, men getting shelters for domestic violence and anything else you men can think of that moves both sexes away from rigid patriarchy, misandry or other forms of gender hate, displacement.

My opinion is that any country that puts women on the front lines to be slaughtered is a sick country , so I don't think that particular issue should count as a win for women. I suppose women think differently about it. As far as males go, minorities need their rights upgraded, but in a racist country (not everyone, of course) it's still difficult for them. White folks----seldom get the short straw. Perhaps child custody is out of kilter and needs looked at. As a white man, I've never been stopped arbitrarily, never been shot at by cops, never been followed in a store supposing that I was there to steal, never been beaten by cops, no one in my family has ever been lynched, etc, etc. The hate of Obama is still very much on display.
So all considered--most men have all the rights granted to us.

What about the fact that men's lives aren't considered as valuable as women's, so they're sent to war to die? I find that a troubling fact. Why is it OK to slaughter men but not women?

Well, of course humanity should have learned by now that this little blue ball on which we live, is being run completely wrong and that includes sending ANYONE off to die for the monied interests. This place is a paradise that is being despoiled by those who seek power/money over all else , and they manage to keep the debates/s on side issues. Up and until the monetary systems, and the attitudes of regular citizens begin to face reality about humans and our place on earth, we'll be doing the same things on and on and on, with no relief for millions and millions of world citizens. Nobody is considered valuable when money and power is at stake. Except those that are making it. It's the long con-- played either skillfully or clumsily , as is happening now. I'm sorry, Ow----this is just how I see things.

I will expand before I go: So--mom runs off to Mexico--leaves Joel with Dad. We go to court to figure out custody( I'm about 5 YO) and dad says--"tell them you want to be with me." Mind you, my dad was a banker and had $$. Court heard me and gave custody to my gramma and not my dad. Why? Because men were not "capable "of raising children, I guess.

( My dad was an asshole, but the judge didn't know that)

Great topic really, but i think a man is likely to be chastised for bringing up too much. One thing I'll note, it seems like the tables are being flipped - overcorrecting to try to right a wrong.

That is for sure one but also generally in a divorce the man is considered to be the one who has to fight his way to equal footing whereas the woman is generally still considered to be the one that was wronged. And men generally are expected to pay support. I know men that are ordered to pay alimony to the wife even if she screwed the 7th fleet and has her own income.

Oh and men are generally expected to pay for all dating activities. It matters not the woman's ability to pay.

I think custody rights are the most important (legitimate) talking point here, they certainly favor the woman.

There's a crime sentencing gap: men get longer jail sentences than women for the same crime.
    Homelessness: Men 62% Women 38%
    Suicides: Men 77.9% Women 22.1%
Homicide victims: Men 77.4% Women 22.6%
Workplace deaths: Men 93% Women 7%
College graduates: Men 40% Women 60%
Winners of custody: Men 17.8% Women 82.2%

I think there's a ton of discrepancies out there that need addressing. Much of it boils down to double standards.

But in the end, there's also just as many advantages to being male, as there are to being female.

Men aren't treated with the same compassion, when they speak out against being abused by their wives/gf's. They're not taken as seriously, studies have shown.

Basically what Scratcho said. Fortunately i do think we've progressed since the example he gave. I cant see courts granting custody to a father over grandparents now, but mothers are still usually favored in custody court.

I know this is is just anecdotal evidence, but I've seen a friend of mine go through this. His girlfriend left him and left their two year son with him. She didn't have any contact for two years then showed back up. He tried to do the right thing and allow her to continue to see their son since she missed out on two years of his life. They worked out a verbal agreement where she kept the child while he was at work, but one day she just never brought him back. It took my friend a long time to even get a custody hearing then the mom was still granted custody despite abandoning her son for two years.

women get fucking couches in their restrooms. what's up with that?

also, public showers, like in locker rooms. women get private stalls, with curtains and everything. men are all jammed in the community naked room, trying not to drop the soap.

I don't use the showers at the gym. I have a towel that I put down in my car so that sweat doesn't get all over everything and shower when I get home. I hate the communal naked thing. It's a little weird if you ask me.

Or, maybe the goal is to drop the soap and the bathroom stalls are based on the validity of Macedonian and Greek versions. :p

FYI, not all female restrooms and shower rooms have private curtains and lounges and what not. Not even in the HS I went to. It was one room with benches, one shower room.

    That's so true

For a short while i had a job to unlock all the doors and gates of this community college. And the girls' locker room had curtain showers, and a couch. Not the boys'.

Well in most gyms I've gone to, there are open showers and stall showers.... but if you want to shave your legs and do such ablutions... stalls are usually better choices... I think men are treated like cattle in general...Have never understood this... We need couches to pause, throw bookbags, large purses on.... Actually sofas near toilets are not so inviting... Only people on them are bushed women, women with loads of shopping bags, little kids! Ordinarily, no sofas. My guess is 1 or 2 in 10. But its definitely predicated on women being weaker sex, having children in tow, needing to rest... and men need just as much rest, have started having children in tow moreso than earlier generations... Men have gotten used to this treatment and are taught not to complain. Ask for it! You might be trailblazers. But squeaky wheels.
