i made these for my mom's for mom's day: bag number one was knit following this pattern exactly: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...l%3Den%26sa%3DN i loved this pattern, it was quick and i love the bag. if i did it again, however, i'd bind off about 10 stitches to make the handles, then cast on those 10 stitches on the next row to continue knitting in the round, like i did this next bag: for this bag i made one circle as in the above pattern and instead of binding off on row 41 as the pattern dictates, i continued to knit and knit and knit for days it seemed. when i was comfy with the length, i bound of 24 stitches for each handle (i'd cut that down to 15 if i did it again), then cast those stitches back on, on the next round to continue knitting in the round. i knit up another inch or so, then added 4 short rows in each handle to make them a bit stronger, knit a complete round, then bound it all off and felted it up! easy peasy. if i did this bag again, i'd decrease the stitches toward the top to shape it more. with the way i did it, i had to sew the sides together after i felted it, to make it more of a bag shape rather than a rug with handles :lol there's cute beads on both sides i'd like to give a special thanks to my five-year-old photographer, baylee. thanks for looking!
Those are cute!! I love felting. It is so much fun to pull it out of the water and see what you got. Hehe Baylee is a great photographer. That is my son's job too. Nice work!!
thanks! this was my first felting experience and now i'm hooked. i want to add that i found the 100% merino wool in this gorgeous color, as a sweater at my local, independently owned thrift store. i frogged it and knitted these bags, and i've still got some left over. total cost: 6.95
