I've always smiled or spoken with dreadies if it feels safe to do so. I've wanted them for over then years so I always asked people how they started them or told them how awesome I thought they were. No one has ever reacted negatively. But in saying that, I do smile at just about everyone I pass while walking down the street here. I come from a small town and I think some things never change.
Cool feedback guys And it isnt just a hairstyle!! Thats sooooo shallow xD xP Its a way of liife maannnnn Naw I;m always interested in how other dreadies I see have done theirs/how long have they had them/and shizz but cus they are either really cute or look pompous I can't muster the confidence to say "urh. Hi.. Urm.. Dread..s awesome.. " I also think My dreads are inadequate xD Probably cus they are so short... But the little fellas are coming up to a year now so woo Once the really hot guy dready guy said I had nice dreads when they were 4 months xD He has the awesomemest dreads.. I still see him around...I'm like uhh!! Talk to me please!!! And a black guy said I had 'nice locks darlin'' I feel kinda bad for ignoring him, It was dark and its a very dodgy place around here xD Althought I did smile inside... ^^
awww dragon...your dreads are amazing! I wish mine were as dready as yours! The other dreadies are prob nervous to talk to you cuz your dreads rock and they feel inadequate! lol. *oooooh on a sidenote a foreign exchange student from the netherlands said my dreads were awesome yesterday! Wooohooo! So far on my journey...that makes 3 random compliments from 3 random people! lol. *wow thats so lame I count that shit!*
if i actually saw a white person with locks i'd have to say something. i've never actually touched caucasian locks before, so i'd have to do that just for comparison. there are tons of african-type dreads everywhere and i always feel really odd around them unless they bring up my locks.
Ee thanks mandy Ahh I count too!! Two comments from two random people for me ;D VH Around here there is alooods of africanhair dreads round here too.. I feel kinda weird walking past just incase they do shout something like 'white locks' or something derogative like that xD There is also an african hair dresser thing here too, named "mo fro" and the slogan is "for those who expect what they deserve" or something vaugely anti-white racist like that. God I hate this part of where I live xD Thankfully I'm moving to the slightly posher area in sept
I always felt weird around other dreadies when I had mine. I'd never bring it up, other people did tend to though. I wouldn't acknowledge someone with dreads in the street any more than anyone other person, but I do notice dreadies much more now than I did before.
i've seen them in the past, but not since i've started mine. i touch mine, but i wanna know wha they're "supposed" to feel like. lol.
when i was at a gig on saturday i spotted a dready and went up to him and said '....im strangely attracted to your hair..' and then we pretty much spent the rest of the night talking & dancing =]
I get a bunch of people with young backcombed dreads come up to me and compliment mine and ask how I got such awesome dreads. At that point they either don't believe me or say they're gonna comb out and go the natural route. I never start convo with fellow dreaded people though
there was this one young looking cute fella who winked and did some funny faces at me, but i couldn't talk to him cause i kinda bursted out laughing and i scared him away with that i think, and there are some other dreaded people i've seen, but estonians aren't that keen on talking randomly to strangers.. unless they're a bit tipsy
