GermanLoveMachine, And your enjoying every minute of it While I'm familiar with the basics of theoretical physics from quantum mechanics to the superstring theory, I can't really have an intelligent discussion beyond simple conjecture and speculation (which I'm very good at) Hotwater
I dont consider superstring theory or string theory or m-theory or whatever to be theoretical physics. The guys working on this are very good mathematicians, nothing more, nothing less. There is no experimental evidence at all that these theories even contain a litte bit of physical truth, and as far as I know the guys working on them dont have any idea how to conduct any experiments that could prove them. Perhaps one fine day there WILL be experimental evidence for it, but then again, it might turn out that it is not physics at all !
The following is from my "Call for tornament" thread that has been locked, so I just copied it. I dont know why the guy did not want me to post it in the science forum, but it was HIS decision, not mine. And to be fair to him, he then DID participate in this thread as you can see. ME: ....So why dont you propose another topic (related to physics) ? TheGanjaKing: what kind of physics? mechanics, electromagnetism, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, relativity, nuclear and particle physics, and atomic and molecular physics you choose, although my preference would be in qunatum mechanics or thermodynamics ME: All fine with me, start any thread about this topics in the science forum and I will answer (allthough not today because its time to go to bed soon but tomorrow same time you will have an answer !) TheGanjaKing: I don't post in the science forum...... either you do it here or I don't particpate
GermanLoveMachine, Do you believe there is a theory of everything, or was einstein and his dream of a GUT just a fool along with the proponents of the superstring theory. And If so, then wouldn't the universe be governed by nothing more than a series of field equations. Hotwater
Well- I can safely number myself among the (presumed) majority here that can only spectate- having little in our arsenals of information with which to do such cerebral battle. Just bending my mind around the borders of comprehension of that subject leaves me in need of a sugary snack and a nap.
^ LMAO @ Vinnie! Um, GLM, I am afraid I know nothing about quantam physics, or scientific research on uranus, or anything of the like. So I guess that only backs what we have all figured all along: You are far superior to me (and the majority of us here) much more intelligent, and positively better in bed, albiet a virgin. I bow to you, oh great one. Maybe in another life, I might be lucky enough to shine your shoes.
I just simply wanted to make GLM look like an ass in front of all of us, which he has already done, simply by trying to act all big and bad talking about an experiment that will NEVER happen. Most of physics is nothing more than speculation, basically a bunch of really smart math dudes sitting around thinking up a bunch of shit that sounds really complicated. In actuality, its all bullshit because none of it can really be proved, so who's to say any of its wrong or right? we just think they are smart because no one else can think this shit up. So all in all, its a waste of our time cuz no one simply cares about it. 50 or 60 years ago it was big shit, but today, in our world of technology which exists and is here and can be seen, we just don't care about much else. actually, I have heard about it, and no, I don't have an MIT education nor do I even study physics. I just watch a shit load of documentaries about things that most people would never care about. Thats just something I do when I'm high. Nothing more.
I applaud ya Ganja, I am glad somebody was able to take him down a peg, although it doesn't seem to phase him much..I guess he just cares so much what people think of him, it doesn't even catch his attention...
Alot of people will only hear what they want to hear. It's not as much that he cares what they think of them- it's that they must think him a genius.
he thinks that being smart is gonna get him a bitch with big whoppers...... and this simply isn't going to happen. he's gonna have to settle for an old ugly bitch with small droopy whoppers.
Just for the benefit of those that are new here or have a challenged long-term memory I brought back this thread.... just to let you know who is smart here and who isnt....
GLM............................. Off yourself please. ----------------------- EDIT BY DANGERMOOSE: shit like that, gets you BANNED, consider that a strong worded warning.
Well I think you should have sex with an inflatable sheep. I have numerous times in the past and found it to be an enjoyable experience.
i coudlnt read this whole thread, but you're all such terrible asses to germanlovemachine it makes me sick. and i have attended a few quantum physics lectures given by a new start up geared towards quantum mechanics and i know of the experiment he is reffering to, so dont assume that just because you're all too uneducated to know about such things, that we all are. if you dont know what hes talking about, dont read the thread, theres no point in belittling him. its like a grade school classroom in here. You find someone to pick on and gang up and ridicule him till he leaves. no, im afraid not, many theoretical physicist believe that existence can be boiled down to a single mathematical equation, and truely i believe it can to the original poster, if emense gravity is the cause of black holes (rifts in the space time continuum which makes up a large part of a single line of progression of quantum theory) then truely it could be manipulated by gravity. if gravity is a by product of the black holes instead of the underlying cause, then i wouldnt be so sure that gravity can have an effect.
Thanx a lot for your support man, though Im sure it wont mean anything to them.... Regarding your last paragraph - Im not sure whether I understand you correctly, but Im pretty sure that gravity is the cause of black holes and not the other way. If you believe in Einsteins general theory of relativity (and I do, since so much experimental evidence in support of it has piled up) than a black hole is just a very special case in which the application of Einsteins equations result in a spacetime singularity. On the other hand, even if the initial conditions for forming black holes never existed in even a single case, i.e. if there would not be any black holes now, then Einsteins equations would still be true !
This is a very remarkable statement ideed, especially as it comes from the same guy who wrote the following stuff about me in one other thread of mine: "Once again your balls have outweighed your brain and you completely misconstrued my meaning. No shit its a fantasy, but a tasteless and idiotic one at that. My Brain cells are fine thanks. At least they know how to recognise pathetic, uninteresting shit that isn't worth posting."
