All that mouse bone shit was kind of insane. Who the hell really honestly believes mice don't have bones? Are they related to jellyfish or slugs or something?

HAHAHAHAHA! I CAN'T HELP BUT LAUGH AT THE PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT ASSume THINGS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE AND ABOUT THE NATURAL WORLD AS YOU HAVE WRITTEN. IT IS EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING AND SAD AT THE SAME TIME TO HEAR THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IGNORANTLY ARGUING ABOUT THE NATURAL CYCLE OF THINGS. AND CALLING SOMEONE A 'PETA' PERSON LIKE IT IS THE F WORD, HYSTERICAL. WELL I AM NOT A PETA PERSON, BUT I AM A PERSON WHO IS EDUCATED (AND NOT FROM READING SOME BOOK OR WATCHING THE HIPPY OR ANIMAL CHANNEL), LICENSED AND HOLDS DEGREES IN THE WILDLIFE REHABILITATION FIELD. AND WHILE PEOPLE MAY HAVE A RAT OR BIRD AS A PET, THEY ARE NOT A DOMESTICALLY CREATED ANIMAL, THEY ARE ADAPTED TO DOMESTICITY.

MATURE, INTELLIGENT PEOPLE WHO LEARN ABOUT THE NATURAL, BIOLOGICAL PROCESS OF THINGS UNDERSTAND THAT THE NATURAL WORLD IS NOT ALWAYS THAT PRETTY OR FUZZY AND CUTE CLOSE UP! THERE IS A NATURAL ORDER TO THINGS, A PREDATOR AND PREY RHYTHEM THAT HAS EVOLVED OVER MILLIONS OF YEARS (KITTY CATS ARE NOT PART OF THIS) AND THAT WE ALL CAN'T BE PREDATORS, SOME OF US HAVE TO BE PREY, AND IF YOU WANT TO HELP OUT WILDLIFE YOU BETTER HAVE A STRONG HEART AND STOMACH AND BE ABLE TO BE WILLING TO DO WHAT IS NECESSARY FOR THE WILD ANIMAL TO SURVIVE AND BE WILD AGAIN, NOT WHAT IS NICEST OR SWEETEST IN YOUR OPINION.

maybe i'm repeating someone, but cat's can sometimes survive (prolly not those kittens though) and create thriving feral cat populations that threaten local wildlife. BUMMER!

Oh man, oh man, this thread is like the whos-who of human stupidity. Lets call each other names, everybody! Poopiehead!

Okay, first off, if you don't wnat your cat to have kittens: NEUTER YOUR CAT. WOW! What a simple solution!

Okay, over here in the UK, it is indeed illegal to feed live prey to anything. This includes zoos. I don't really agree with the whole idea of feeding kittens to snakes, not when mice are being bred and culled especially for that purpose (pinkies, furries, etc). And no, I am not stating mice are higher on the ladder than cats,

Actually, if you believe in Mr Adams' work, mice are the highest life-form on the planet, creating the world to find the question to the ultimate answer (42, by the by). Then it's the dolphins. Then its the humans.

So anyway, feed the snake with whatever it's used to. I really doubt that snakes large enough to eat a kitten should be kept in captivity anyway. I mean, it wouldn't have much space, would it?

Really you should have your cat fixed! I think it's stupid and irresponsible to have your cat get kittens over and over again if you don't know what to do with them. Or even if you do have homes for them; there are already way too many unwanted kittens. Please, have her spayed!

And while I love cats, I don't have much of a problem feeding kittens to a snake if it's sure they are going to be killed anyways. I *MUCH* prefer preventing unwanted kittens in the first place, and finding homes for those who are born... but a year ago or something there was a news article about someone who worked at a shelter and took some kittens for a snake *while it was already decided the kittens were to be put down*, and he got into major trouble for it... that is silly; if you have to kill an animal, I believe it's far better if it's used in some way for our own food or for another animal, than that it's thrown in the trash or incinerated or whatever. Best to avoid the situation, prevent it; however wasting the animal by throwing its body out is the absolute worst solution. Then the animal is dead, it's good for absolutely nothing, and other animals still have to die for the food, what good does that do? Oh, and for many pets you don't have to feed it live, many pets, even snakes, are used to eating dead food (or the owner can wiggle it so it looks alive).

Personally I don't agree with live feeding...Not only do most rats/mice from petshops carry parasites that often kill snakes (even frozen and pre-killed ones), most often the snake is the victim when the rat attacks it. I have two rats myself, and they would not be easily eaten by a snake. They would eat it -- literally. People have yet to realise the extra heartache when it comes to live feeding. I think it's horrible that people agree with a snake potentially strangling a helpless kitten to death, or crushing the poor kittens bones until they stab his vital organs and he bleeds enternally to death. So yes -- I do think that putting him to sleep is alot more humane. Atleast it's painless. How would you feel to be a helpess small thing, and to be strangled by strong jaws until your bones crush and you can't breathe? Until your insides bleed out?

I laugh that you, Children of Bodom, say that by doing this, you are helping to control the overpopulation problem. Really all you need to do is spay your "stupid" cat. You're the stupid one if you think your cat will spay itself.

umm i don't think that it's right for YOU or any human to feed your PET snake a kitten, if this was done in the wild and the snake ate a cat/kitten for survival it would be different but since snakes can obviously live without eating kittens in captivity because of human care than i don't think it's right.

p.s. do snakes ever eat kittens?

There is someone out there who would love to have a kitten. Take them to a shelter or put signs up around town about your kittens. Just don't kill the poor thing. It's a baby =(

This is just a sick topic.

Take the kittens to a shelter.

If a shelter will not take the kittens then at least let them go free.

Btw- in all likely hood the kittens would kill the snake not the other way around, unless this is a really big snake.

That's not a good solution, it'd be more humane to kill them than to set them free... we definitely don't need more strays, and while strays can survive in some areas in other places they're just starving & getting sick & get hit by cars (esp. urban areas).

I completely disagree. I think it is always better to give the cats a fighting chance than just kill them. Of curse one should not let them go where they are in danger of being hit by cars or can't find food. You should take them to a country area where they can find food and water. Ideally take them to a farm. Farmers are often willing to take in and care for feral cats as they keep pests away from their crops.

That comment alone proves how tough the common house cats is. They are cunning predators with a knack for survival. Don’t get me wrong I am not advocating that you just dump cats out into the wild. This should only be done as a LAST resort. After you have made every effort to find them a home and have been turned away from every shelter you can find. It is far better then just killing them IMO.

not only is that sensless and crule to the kitten, but a kitten is not going to sit lightly by while a huge snake comes at it... A kitten will most likely seriously hurt a snake... Most live rats and mice usually injure snakes during feeding.. I recommend prekilled rats, mice, or rabbits...
