What kinda level have you sunk to , posting pictures of a cute little kitten trying to get pity or something?? Cats can be dirty nasty creatures too. How many times do i have to tell you people --- I dont have the damn snake. And again --- this thread was not intended as a joke at all. If you think i'm sick because i gave this idea serious thought, then so be it. Even my mom disagrees. She said that it is "socially inappropriate". I told her that she grew up in the sixties and should know damn well that society's opinion is just what the majority of the people think. She's a drone. that's why she watches all the primetime tv shows and joe millionaires and crap. The more commercials that she sees the more she wants to watch it. Which i have also noticed in her viewpoints in life. Totally unable to form her own opinion. Just like alot of you who say its not "normal" to feed kittens. It's also not normal to take care of another species as a pet to begin with. Yea monkeys do it and there's this type of fish that lives in a shark's butthole, but you dont condemn them, do you??
Sorry to hear about the virus, welcome back. I don't believe I called you any names, so you must be defending someone else....I'm sure they appreciate it. I don't have a nasty attitude, I'm calm. Just because I don't pepper my posts with smiley faces and I have strong opinions doesn't mean I have a foul demeanor or that I harbor any dislike for anyone I disagree with. You don't think I'm cool anymore? Forgive me if I don't feel a great sense of loss..I don't care if someone dislikes me because of a post. That's silly. You don't know me. I maintain, as does the original poster, that the thread is serious. Why, if you do not find the notion of feeder kittens appalling, would you even doubt the sincerity of this thread? That makes no sense. Of course I won't. And of course they will. But what is wrong with expressing an opinion? To have an opinion does not mean you think "the world revolves around you". Good grief. Cats are more lovable (to the great majority of humans) and able to love, they have a greater emotional capacity than a rat or mouse. You can't deny that.
I assure you, I do appreciate animals. BUT, I do rank them in importance. They are not equal. A species that is rare, is of greater value than one that is abundant. I would place a panda above a domestic cat. Pandas are rare. Cats and rats are fairly equally abundant, but as a stated before, and you apparently overlooked, rats are disease carriers and serious agricultural pests, they cost humans billions of dollars. That fact puts them below a cat IMO. I never said it was because they are not as cute as a cat. You apparently feel that way and came to that conclusion on your own. We elevate certain animals like dolphins, dogs, primates, etc. because they are more advanced, aware, and have emotional capacity. This is a positive attribute of modern civilization. In the wild, yes animals can eat what they wish, but when you take on a pet, you as a human can use your good sense and moral judgement to avoid feeding kittens to your pet. I got it, but your logic did nothing to support your conviction. If you feel all animals are equal, then it shouldn't bother you to feed a human to a snake either. Other animals don't do this because, other animals don't keep pets! You cannot compare the behavior of nonpet keeping species and pet keeping species. Yeah, it was in quotes because that is not the common term for the activity. Nothing for you to get worked up over. There is nothing wrong with telling people their actions are wrong. These are not religious values, they are basic morals. Where would we be today if no one spoke up against various atrocities? There are many primitive cultures out there, that doesn't make their practices less horrific. If you compare your behavior to the lowest denominator, yes we will look less barbaric. We are an advanced civilization, in need of improvments, yes, but we have recognised that there are certain animals that deserve higher value. We have that choice. I don't support that either. Who said I think this is wrong? Go sharks. I don't care. There are cultural beliefs that are wrong though, and I think it is fine to help change them, such as cultures that restrict women's rights, genital mutilation, etc. Common knowledge doesn't prove anything. That is a very simplistic view of population dynamics. Much has been discovered since this predator-prey model. It really is not so simple. Take for instance Isle Royale, the highly studied relationship between wolves and moose, one of my professors has studied the relationship and found the situation is more complex than previously thought. When moose are abundant, the wolf population does not always grow. They're highly inbred and canine parvovirus was introduced to the island and affected the population. The moose population declined severely one year and it was not because of a high wolf population, it was due to a harsh winter with lots of snow forcing the moose to seek browse near the edge of cliffs and they fell to their deaths. Again, this is incorrect. There are many other factors. Also, what predators would eat us? People dislike wolves or cougars mainly because they harm livestock. We are in agreement on the fact that these predators should be reintroduced and allowed enough space to maintain viable populations. Feral populations survive well here, I cannot speak for where you live. The solution is not to feed them to pets, but to prevent this instead by spaying and neutering your pets and by people taking responsibility for their pets. No, I would say more than half. Those are the threads that I don't bother reading or replying to. I don't think anyone here feels 100% of the threads here are great. Why am I here? To discuss issues I am interested in with people who disagree with me usually. This is because, offline I am surrounded by like-minded people, naturally, so I enjoy the chance to debate with people who have diff. views on issues here. Really, I wouldn't concern myself with why I'm here if I were you. It doesn't matter does it? You're freaking out over nothing. Simply because I disagreed with you. How silly. You obviously can't handle criticism. Funny, cynical_otter, cynicism is often a symptom of inflated ego. I'm not a know-it-all, but I do know some things and I don't mind passing the info along. I'm sure there are things I'm ignorant about that you could inform me about. Big deal. It's nothing to be offended by when someone shares information with you. You came into the thread with a cocky attitude and when someone corrects your points, you are bitter? Are you sure you're 26? I am passionate about certain topics, just because not everyone here shares that passion, doesn't mean I have to stifle it. Don't tell me what to worry about. Maybe yours does.
No, actually it was more of a joke...to lighten things up. It is cute though isn't it I knew you'd think so. People need to use discretion when choosing pets. Some animals just should not be taken as pets. That's the moral of the story. Bottom line.
I see no problem with feeding a baby cat to a snake. I mean if he/she wants to eat the cat then thats its buisness. Obviously its the cats fault for being such a crappy animal that cant defend its self from such a advanced predator. I have a idea. Lets do a test for scientific reasearch. Buy a cat and a mouse and then put them both in the snakes cage. Who ever is left standing is the better vertabrate!! let the war begin
i sincerely hope u learn the difference between serious talk and some one who's just joking around. but i guess i understand. you were taught to be politically correct. i'm sure in the uk somebody laughed. i mean imagine the taco bell dog being eaten by a fish. that annoying little mutt with his mexican accent has it coming.
bullshit bitch, im not politically correct you gay retarded dick monkey! im one of the least politically corect people i know. and i know a few ******-haters. just because i dont find torturing animals funny like you dimented limey queers dosent make me politically correct! got it uncle fucker?
so wat happened to the kittens anyway? since u decided not to feed em to the snake. probably a bad choise since it would have defended itself and might injur the snake. and like many tropiacl pets the air around it could kill it. or at least thats how ignorant i am.
THe kittens are fine and healthy. One of them is too afraid of people, maybe it didnt get held by people enough in its infancy. The other one is the most fearless happy go lucky kitty ive ever seen. I still need to get rid of them tho. But you know its kinda hard to do that.
Umm, I just found a mouse corpse under our fridge, lo and behold, there were bones. top, MIDDLE, and bottom. It had a full rib cage section. Just because it's bone structure is different and flexible does not mean they aren't there. I've seen them stay alive in mouse traps...not because they don't have BONES but because they're small and flexible.....if you'd like I can go take a picture of the dead thing right now, up close and personal, and post it here for you. Man, get a clue! Why would anyone feed their snake live kittens anyway? It's one thing if the snake is STARVING and the kittens are extra small and sick or something, but to do it just for the sake of seeing them get eaten IS cruel, and has nothing to do with the foodchain.
i think you have to do it while they're brand new and super tiny, and shave em too! maybe grease em up w/ a little crisco, so they slide down better.
some of these snakes eat small deer like animals in the wild i think they could handle a little kitten fur.not that they're gonna be eaten anymore anyway.
This thread is not supposed to be funny. It was a serious decision that i was trying to make at one point. But I will tell you guys something. I think (from what you all said and from my own beliefs) that if i ever have unwanted kittens again and know someone with a big snake, I won't hesitate to give the kittens to the snake owners. Not that I want to watch it happen, or for spite, or even for nature reasons. I just think that if the cat is probably gonna die anyways, why not let another creature gain some nourishment from it.
