ever see killer klowns from outer space? also the nearest thing to law enforcement in traditional indiginous cultures, at least that i know about in what is now the u.s. (but no such thing yet existed then) were the "clown societies". making oneself look rediculous was origeonaly a way of making yourself look scarry. whoever said pre-monotheistic times weren't more innocent is nuts. not that anybody's ever been totaly harmless either. clowns are at ancient and forgotten root, about satyrizing the unknown, yet the unknown itself, is for more lovable. so there is indeed a very natural, if seldom conscously recognized root, for that whatchamawhatever you want to call it, coulrophobia. =^^= .../\...
Bozo the Clown once said on his show that it was good for your eyes to stare directly into the sun for five minutes a day, and I believed him. :stunned: "Cram it, Clownie!"
My mom once told me never to stare directly into the sun, so of course, I did. No, I am not getting that from Pi.
George Bataille has interesting essays on laughter --- which appears to be intrinsically tied to horror...also, when we laugh (a libidinal release) we throw our heads back (much as in orgasm) which, as evidence of the animality in laughter, essentially puts us in a quadruped position, betraying our erect anatomy by lining up our anus and mouth with the spine. The sun and moon, being also imagined circumferences (like our eyes, and anuses) then fill us with animal horror...the horror of the celestial beings, of gods, of the unknown, of the heavens... The mind is dialectical (so opposites converge) and it is parodic...much like clowns. Who knows what kind of associations the brain is capable of.
I believe that may be one of the first times I actually faced my dislike and fear of the merry makers. I was deathly afraid of that damn clown from Poltergeist! Pure evil. All I can say.
You know, maybe my dislike is more fear afterall. Hmmm. I always figured I just didn't care for clowns, but perhaps it runs deeper than that.
you cant see there facial expressions. they perform violent stunts. they wear bright loud clothes. hmm punky. anyhoo all kid stuff scares me. teletubbies etc. the media is trying to create more sociopaths. look at kid shows. its all dehumanizing and un empathic.then shovem into school. a artificially supercompetitive collection of emotionally abused kids.if you thought out a way to crank out as many killers as possible you couldnt find a better way. plus its like a free babysitter for absent apathetic parents.
