Acorn is a gang hotbed. Think about it, black markets emerge where people are in need. And Oakland, my friends, is full of folks in need. It's also got money areas (Phil Lesh attended a university here, there are sub cities that are gentrified, or have been money areas for decades). There is a have and have not clash, but there is also an astounding sense of community. Schools have gardens, urban farming supplies food for low income people. There's a strong art community. And burners galore.
