sugarmaggie, your my little fantacy girl! (if thats O.K. with you)

Skeletons was my first exposure to the Grateful Dead too. I bought it on "tape" in a grocery store, when I was 16 or so.

    Good times indeed :)

FAV STUDIO: Workingman's Dead I'm going to git me a jackhammer job someday just cuz I love Easy Wind so much!

    FAV LIVE: Europe '72

Its hard to choose, for me, between American Beauty and Workingman's, but I'll go with Workingman's Dead. I love the psychadelic jams, but as far as studio work goes, those two albums stand out for me. Damn good music.

    Reckoning

The harmonizations in American Beauty are beautiful and captivating, but I feel that Reckoning captures more of what makes the Grateful Dead the Grateful Dead. Its more folksy, raw, unprocessed, and nostalgic.

American Beauty, with Terrapin Station a close second. My favorite GD song, "Brokedown Palace," is, of course, on Beauty.

Ifirst heard American Beauty as my first Dead album, and I thought wheres this crazy Acid Test/ Trips Festival band that I had been reading about? "Melbourne Auztralia circa '77 '78 ". Then I found Anthem of the Sun, my prayers were answered. I havent heard a Dead album I didn't like but I havent heard them all. To me some are for freaking freely and some are for smokin' a joint and having a beer. Love and Peace.

Listening to the live cuts and the Dick's Picks series has caused me to forget which songs are on which albums.

Dicks Picks has about 30 albums.

My other in this case would be Infrared Roses. Entirely instrumental, it's layered and spliced in an exceptionally trippy manner by Bob Bralove. It took a few listens before it fully clicked, then became my real favorite.

Steal Your Face was my first and favorite GD album, but since it didn't appear on "the list", I choose American Beauty.
