Many bands are starting to iron out the wimpy wrinkles in it..................luckily the OBNOXIOUS late 70s fad called disco music music is being wiped out out by more TRUE music bands out there ....never despair :):)

Oh man, this is an impossible question. I guess some of the more obvious like Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Doors, Jefferson Airplane and so on but I could really go on and on. Some bands reached their prime in the 70's as well so I better just stop, haha :D
By the way, of course not every band from the sixties was good, disco music is just a genre we don't like, not just bad because you don't get it, and there's so much good (and bad) music around nowadays that you have to look, listen rather :p, around before making an obnoxious statement about todays music.

Well, there's lots to say about disco "music" here :). It was the disco freaks who first pointed there little grubby fingers towards the likes of rock and such, so now they'd better back down because rock will OUTLIVE disco "music" for eons :):)

I don't feel like going into a discussion with you about disco. I'm not a fan of it either but if other people find joy in it (which they do) then that's great. Perhaps it's a different kind of music for a different kind of purpose? Anyway, your childish desire to express your aversion against a music genre the same way over and over again doesn't serve any purpose, and especially not in the rock subforum.

donna summer is beautiful though.i liked her songs...how about eric burdon and the animals?in the summer of 68 their song "sky pilot" about an army chaplain gave the world something to think about as the war in vietnam raged on...their album "love is.."was on of the first and best psycadelic albums i've heard.

It's not childish...it's fact. Rock will outlive the likes of MJ and Madonna actually. The only childish people are the ones who point their little grubby finger at rockers only because they wore and wear long hair......in the shitty face of false morality :):)

    ROCK ON!!

Haha, it's not a fact but even if it was it doesn't need to be repeated all the time, ok. You're the one who's childish here and if some disco fanatics pointed their grubby fingers at you 30 years ago is not an excuse to point your grubby fingers at them till eternity.
They most likely pointed their fingers at you not for being a rocker but for being an annoying twat who can't stop rambling about how disco sucks. Ah well, you may do that, I don't care, but just don't do it here all the time. We know your opinion about disco now so shut it.

These are not only some of my favourite bands from the 60s, they are also just generally some of my fav bands...

The Doors, cannot tell you how much I love them, they had a god for their lead singer :p my ultimate no.1 band.

Jefferson airplane, I want Grace Slick's voice.

Simon and Garfunkel, they are always there for me :p.

The Velvet underground, Venus is furs, best kinky song ever.

Janis Joplin, ok so she isnt a band, but my god how could she not be on this list!

The Kinks, so weird, so great.

The Animals, the best version of House of the rising sun in my opinion.

The Moody Blues, Nights in white satin is one of the most beautiful songs.

    To name a few.

Janis was in the band Big Brother & the Holding Company. Most of my favourite stuff of her she did with that band. That combi of her voice and that guitar in songs like Summertime and Ball 'n chain are just fantastic :cheers2:
