I haven't seen a really scary horror movie for a looong time. The Ring 1 was good (supposedly not as good as the original Japanese one, but it did give me some trouble getting to sleep). House of thousand corpses, It (both movies), The omen, The grudge and The ring 2 were all hardly worth the time.
oh yeah, and then another great film is the psychological thriller "repulsion" much of which chronicles the delusions and hallucinations of a young woman going insane alone in her apartment over the course of a few days murder, insanity, psychotic delusions...what could be better?
I think Candyman 1 is one of the best horror films. Its not that scary but its such a well choreographed movie. What does everyone else think?
I don't find any movies scary, but there are some that try to be and go so over the edge, that they look ridiculous. I walked out of the Texas Chainsaw remake. It was so dumb. The oribinal Halloween was perfectly made especially with the creepy music, Friday the 13th as well was fun.
NO film can scare me seriously it sucks.. One of the grossest would have to be Saw 1 and Saw 2.. that shit didnt scare me . just mad eme squirm and wanna barf..
Well you'll probably laugh at me but I'd have to agree with this - I love anything vaguely gothic - in the dark romantic side of things (as opposed to the I just wanna kill myself side) and theres something great about old black and white films that just does it.You don't need all the blood and shit to make a creepy film - just atmosphere. Its not so much - being scared - just a good rollocking ghost story is the best. 3 I've listed here are The Devil Rides Out - Hammer Horror (Christopher Lee),Whistle and I'll come to you (Michael Horden),and the Green Man (Albert Finney)
I don't watch many horror movies, but The Shining is one of my favorite movies. So I'll go with that. The Ring was good too.
I saw that fist Saw and it was yuck not scary. If you are a sensitive person at all, that flick will give you nightmares.
I love horror movies -- hell, I live for horror movies. Even bad horror movies.. no, scratch that.. ESPECIALLY bad horror movies. I love 'em. The original two Hellraisers prolly get my pick. There's only a few horror films that have really spooked me. As a child I was deathly afraid of the Exorcist (having strict roman-catholic parents didn't help that any) and even Child's Play -- I was certain my sisters stupid dolls where going to kill me. Horror flicks don't really scare me anymore, but sometimes one does come along with enough haunting "ideas" to creep me out a little.
So many, but probably the Wicker Man, although I don't really think it was that scary but I do love it dearly. Maybe Cube, does that count as a horror film?
