I've seen all kinds of ways to keep blissware handy - on keychains attached to belts or in backpacks or baskets... but I didn't know where the term came from, that's good to know. :)

"Welcome Home!" is another favorite of mine.

but it's no longer blissware if you carry it; it's then your Rainbow dinnerware. If you need blissware, then that means that you blissed your dinnerware somewhere else, whether it be at your camp, at another kitchen, or back somewhere on the road before you got to the Gathering. It's a term that spunned from the Bliss kitchen & the fact that for many years 'the king of Bliss' often showed up at other kitchens without any dinnerware. Just trying to keep the HipStory going is all; there's been a lot of confusion as to the definition of blissware in recent years

Now WELCOME HOME!!! is a term that needs no defintion & is especially beautiful when it comes with a great big hugs or is carried from kitchen to kitchen by the wind...

Hippiestead, honey, lets not get bogged down in semantics. Thats cool you're trying to keep the hipstory going and all....I've always referred to my 'rainbow dinnerware' as blissware as do many others, that or just my dishes, and probably I will continue to do so...now granted I haven't always been around like mayhaps you have? It makes sense also, it being the container(s) for much bliss.

No No No dinnerware is not blissware, blissware is lost dinnerware. Brings to mind a time when a brother got up at the main circle to tell people about how its not ohm its aum.

Lovin you n' all not meanin to be mean or nothin :)

blissware traditionaly was the dishes stored at kitchens for when you blissed your own...however in recent years i've noticed its become more a generic term for dishes..i'd go to a kitchen and theyd ask do you have your blissware..i'd say no..theyd say ok get him some blissware
i think 1/2 the time ya have your own blissware you bliss it back at camp or something
i usualy have blissware, just dont always have it on me..or cant find it if i do..so its become a more general term since everyone blisses your cup away now and then

LOL-maybe we ought to move some of the blissware take over to the Hippie Babble thread...it'd sound like babble to anyone but a Rainbow :D

our kitchen gear never brought blissware in for the kitchen but blissables show up within a day or two of getting the kitchen running. we noticed that blissware had become a more generic term & just wanted to pass the HipStory along.

Here's an interesting Rainbow term...A Rainbow Plumber :beatnik2:

also ibid., 35]). 2) One of the most important mantras
    in Tantric (Tibetan) Buddhism [e.g., Evans-Wentz 1960;
    1967: 127, 301, 312, 320n2, 340], in which "when the
disciple's mind id properly attuned, the inner
vibrations of this word symbol together with its
associations in the consciousness of the initiate ...
open his mind to higher dimensions" [Kapleau 1966:
346]. 3) This Tantric sense, perhaps via the
translations of Evans-Wendt's work which occurred in
the 1960's, seems to inform Rainbow usage, in which it
becomes a somewhat desacralized pacifying syllable
that people chant, typically, before meals, after
Councils, during meditations and prayers, in order to
"harmonize" vibrations." The exact route from Tibet to
Rainbow is obscure, however, since North Americans
tend to lump all "Eastern religions" together in
    practice [e.g., D. 1966: 261].
