When I make my own I use provolone cheese and put on steamed broccoli, sliced olives and feta cheese.

I don't have a favorite, but it has to have a lot of black olives and red onions on it for sure.

One of my favorites, white pizza.
Olive oil, anchovies, and garlic. No tomato sauce, no cheese.
My mother used to make these for Christmas Eve.

As far as I'm concerned there are 2 types of pizza...real pizza and American pizza. If I'm going old school I'm going white pizza too. The "pizza" the French do is fantastic

Pizza originated in Naples Italy in the late 1700's, from there it moved out into the world.

It arrived in the U.S. in the late 19th century, 1905 in Boston, directly from Naples.
Pizza wasn't popular outside of Italian communities until after the Second World War. I'm old enough to remember when it was considered low brow ethnic food.

In our home you never ate pizza without having anchovies on it.
In high school when we got the munchies we'd go to Harry's Pizza. Ten cents a slice, fifteen for pepperoni.

When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie....

I like a classic neapolitan pizza
    Neapolitan-Pizza-Recipe-678x470.jpg

Just big blobs of cheese and basil
Or if I do add a topping, a spicy pepperoni or sausage

Either that or a fully loaded veggie pizza

I've heard it increased in popularity after the war because soldiers stationed in Italy came home and had developed a taste for pizza. I love how food and ingredients and cooking techniques from 1 part of the world cements itself in another.
