Boring I know but I've gotta say Kind of Blue, right now. Bitches Brew I need to listen to more before forming an opinion. Miles Ahead was the first one I got, and accompanied the highest dose mushroom experience I've had so far heh.
Would have to agree with the magic of It's About Time... although, I have little (Miles) to compare it to at this point.
BB and We Want Miles. His biting trumpet dueling for space with Mike Stern's screaming guitar leads. His come back after years of coke and paranoia.
Correction: Grossman plays on Black Beauty--not Shorter. And Shorter plays on It's About That Time--not Grossman. I got them mixed up foolishly. (In fact, one of the things that really sets It's About That Time apart from the other two is Shorter.) ...Not that anyone actually reads this board.
I guess I've been listening to Miles Davis for 3 or 4 years and Bitches Brew, In A Silent Way and Kind Of Blue are always my top 3 But I love Kind Of Blue much more than the others. That album is totally a jazz standart to me
I don't have a favorite...Miles Ahead.. and his Live concerts are great. I just take every opportunity I get to say the King of Cool and I were born in the same town(Alton Il.)
Kind of Blue, Miles Ahead, and Filles de Kilianjaro. He personifies that ancient dictum: The best, when corrupted, becomes the worst.
My favorite album is "Miles Smiles" from the 2nd Great Quintet era. The stimulant-like pulse and frantic nature make for an invigorating listening session. I am going to get my jazz band to play a tune from that album at some point soon, maybe "Footprints."
