i rather like those transparent elevators that run up the outside of buildings. i beleive the british call them lifts.
i find exercise boring and technology fascinating. especially technologies of things that move. even elevators.
I did some barbell curls today. I dont do many isolation exercises but thats one i actually enjoy doing. I was fixated on a latina girls ass as i did them though
I am usually horny as hell after lifting. Too many hot chicks wouldn't be a good thing at the gym. Plus it would no doubt distract from the workout in some way. I would rather be around a bunch of ugly, sweaty dudes when I work out, because then I can just focus on what I'm doing. Still, nothing beats having a home gym.
ive thought about getting a home gym. but dont really have anywhere to put the stuff. how much did yours cost all together? i try and go to the gym when its the least crowded, that way i dont have to wait around for 17 year old kids to bench press 90 pounds for 20 minutes. It really pisses me off when one person spends like 30 minutes at the squat rack. I might start juicing just so ill get angry enough to beat the shit out of them
I don't really have a complete home gym, nor do I have the room for it where I live. Just a bench/rack for presses and squats. I still go to the gym once or twice a week to use some of the leg equipment, but I'm usually there for only 30-45 minutes at the most. I go to a smaller gym, which is mostly dudes who are serious lifters. The bench I bought was from Dick's. It was on sale when I bought it, so it only came to around $150. Then I bought an olympic plate set (300 lbs) with barbell, which came to a little over $250 (also on sale), and an EZ-curl bar. Plus I have an extra 300 lbs of plates which are older ones passed on to me from my father, as well as a set of dumbbells and kettlebells. I don't have a lot of equipment.
with some imagination you could work on your whole upper body with just that equipment, but would be a little more challenging for legs. a pull up bar would really extend the range of exercises you could do at home too.
I actually do chinups at work because there are some short, very sturdy pipes which are cemented into the walls in the basement and have the distance across of a narrow hallway. I only recently began doing them again after taking a break for a few months because my right arm would become numb when I did them. But chinups are one of the best body weight exercises a person can do, along with pushups. You can build a lot of upper body strength from just those two things alone.
i feel like hamstrings and the back leg muscle group are hard to work out with just weights. when i do squats my but muscles get sore, but not my lower hamstrings. i feel like it engages the front leg muscles more. when i work out my legs i usually use the machines to work the back of the leg muscles between the calfs and you butt (gluts).
you like all my least favorites. squats are great, but my muscles are in better shape than my lungs i guess, because i always end up so out of breath after each set that my muscles have already recovered too much before my breathing is ready to do another set. and i have a hard time getting anything out of curls, because i always go straight from having no problem lifting the weight on one rep, to not being able to budge it on the next. i like bench press, because i always feel like i'm able to get something out of it. unlike how i just suddenly lose it with curls, i'm always able to get those last few really hard reps with bench. those are the satisfying ones. and i always feel it the next day; no other lift is guaranteed to do that for me.
I've always really liked benchpress. I used to have issues with being skinny and the BP really helped me sort that out. The final set is always especially satisfying, and it's the one exercise I always push myself as far as I can. I also really enjoy shoulder presses and bicep curls. Isolation exercises are generally not as effective as compound ones, but curls.. there's just something magical about them. Doing them make me feel like a badass. Haven't lifted in a while though, I really need to get back into it.. am actually getting fat, which I would have never though possible.
I am. I switch my routine up quite a bit, but I usually go for moderate weight and moderate reps since I am looking for enhanced muscle definition more than the sheer strength that powerlifting helps to build.
