- Dyer Maker (I don't know if it's spelled right...) - Over The Hills And Far Away - Kashmir - Whole Lotta Love - Bring It On Home .... Oh damn, I can't choose. You got to admit, they are all wonderfull!
For the bluesy stuff, I like "Since I been loving you". "In my time of dying is good too".. I love the mood that "Down by the seaside" gives me... Very dim and distant. It sounds like 4:00 am far away..If that makes sense.
Some of my fav's No Quarter In the Light Kashmir Since I've been Loving You Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Tangerine Over the Hills and Far Away I like many of their tunes. If I had to pick just one, it would probably No Quarter - I absolutely love the version of The Song Remains the Same Sountrack.
Excellent taste in wedding music! We played that at our wedding as well. As for my favorite...I have to admit that WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS is the song that I can't seem to get enough of. I was in a band that covered BABE, I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU and HEY, HEY (WHAT CAN I DO?), so both of those songs have a special place in my heart (I sang and played harp for them). GALLOWS POLE is great for it's the energy of it's manic desperation. The hard rhythmic juggernaut that is FOUR STICKS has the same kind of filmic long-journeying energy that KASHMIR does, but more like the film HIDALGO than LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (which is kind of what KASHMIR feels like to me)... I could go on and on and on... It seems like just when I think I have gotten everything out of what their music has to offer, I come across something else that just grabs me by the scrotum and leads me to a new place. Recently I heard Galactic cover WHOLE LOTTA LOVE and they were incredible! I think that the greatness of a song (as opposed to a performance) has a lot to do with how often and how well other bands can cover them. I used to think that covering a Zepplin tune was like sacreligious, since no one could ever do it the justice that the originators did, but my opinion on this has changed as I learned more about music in general (and especially, the history of music). Imagine if people had that opinion in Mozart's day.
stairway to heaven, over the hill and far away, moby dick, whole lotta love, black dog, ahh and immigrant song peace just watched "The song remains the same today" wonderful. my dad went ape shit because he was there in '73 hehe love
I'm a Tolkein fan, as well as a Zeppelin fan, so I'm gonna have to go with Battle of the Evermore...closely followed by Going to California...and Heartbreaker. Oh, and What is and What Should Never Be...I don't have to choose just one, I hope! =) *laughs*
When the Levee Breaks Hey Hey What can I do Dancing Days Does any big Zeppelin fan know of this song.... the guitar riff somewhat resembles one used in a Rage Against The Machine song, same with the tempo. For the life of me , I can't think of any of the words to either song by Zeppelin or RATM. Help! I'm dying to figure this out!!
