Wow, I'm quoting from far back in the thread, but John Petrucci is amazing, john myung kicks ass, and I love dream theater. I loooooove Train of Thought, and I think it's one of their finest works, regardless of what anyone says. Fav Guitarists: Paul Gilbert, Mr. Vai, Petrucci, Michael Romeo, Any so many others, it'd be pointless to list them.
Jerry Garcia Steve Sweeney George McConnell Jorma Kaukanen John Scofield John Mclaughlin Jimmy Page Steve Kimock Ivan 'boogaloo joe' Jones Grant Green Hendrix Santana Melvin Sparks
Jimi Hendrix - goes without saying, really John Frusciante Mr Graham ( I.T teacher at my school. He is amazing!!!! and he knows Bruce Dickinson from iron Maiden!!!- aparently) Eric Clapton Mike Einziger Santana Kirk Hammet - his solos are phenomenal! Lenny Kravitz Slash Matt Bellamy...just to name a few coz i cant think today!!
Jimi Hendrix is GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also like the smooth Jazz Guitar Players like Wes Montgomery, early George Benson and Bireli Lagrene.
and I forgot Slash who's definetely the most stylish guitar player and cool as shit at the same time.Just stonedrunk onstage with a cigarette in the mouth Afro in front of the eyes playing razorblade soli. Guns n'Roses rock(ed)!!! Velvet Revolver rock !!! Axl Rose sucks!!!
damn! Once again the words were taken right out of my mouth. I shall just agree... oh except for the dudes that were mind-blowing cause I don't know who they are! But I'm sure they were good. Now if I had to choose, which guitarist would I be a groupie for... that's easy either Richards, Townshend, or Page, whoever would have me first. okay, I admit, I'd be a groupie for almost any guitarist... oh well. Great list, anyways. Almost identical to mine (almost) ~peace~
Off the top of my head... Jimi Hendrix Jimmy Page Robert Fripp Tony Iommi Jerry Garcia Pete Townshend Keith Richards David Gilmour Steve Howe Adam Jones Bobby Krieger
hahaha... well you never know, if I saw you play in the next two months, it's possible. I'm not very picky, even a poor guy in the subway station works, as long the music is fairly good. But of course, after the next couple months, I shall have my own guitar. Then I guess I get to be my own groupie. oOoOh... that'll be a little weird. anyways, this is half the reason rockers become rockers... to get laid! well, works for me, I guess, as long as they play good music. anyways... have a nice day!
-Pete Townshend -Jeff Beck -Lou Reed -Syd Barrett -Jimmy Page -Jimi Hendrix -Eric Clapton -George Harrison -Keith Richards -Joe Walsh -Robby Krieger Hehe, I actually go to school with a guy named Keith Richards!
do you really go to school with a kid named Keith Richards... or are you just getting my hopes up? -nice list by the way
No, I seriously do go to school with a kid named Keith Richards! Spelled the same way and everything!
hahaha... taht's awesome! although it would be kinda hard if he ever wanted to be a guitar player. He'd have to change his name... the "Keith Richards" slot is already taken!
Yeah, but he could always change his name to Pete Towns... oh wait. That's taken too! How about Keith Jagger then? Or maybe Mick Richards? Reith Kichards would be cool too. Ok I don't even know what I'm talking about now.
Reith Kichards is a badass name! Let's suggest Pete Daltrey Jaggar Plant. He could almost be his own band... wait... no he couldn't... three singers and one guitarist will not work! oh, you must be rubbing off on me, I don't know what I'm talking about either!
Oooh, I just thought of a good one I should have thought of before! Jick Magger! I'm seriously going to start using that as an insult. Example: "Shut the fuck up you stupid Jick Magger!" Yes... so good, yet amazingly lame. Um, and yeah, this has absolutely nothing to do with guitarists, so time to get on topic! I was listening to The Velvet Underground's White Light / White Heat last night and Lou Reeds guitar work on "I Heard Her Call My Name" and "Sister Ray" never fails to amaze me. I think he is somewhat underappreciated for his guitar work. It seems to be often times overlooked.
Jick Magger... hahaha.. that's hysterical. oh, and yes, so sorry let's get back to the guitarists. woops...
Haha...it's awesome that someone else recognized Dream Theater in this thread. There's no denying John Petrucci's talent. He's fucking amazing...I can't say enough. And Myung is amazing as well. I love DT. Train of Thought isn't my favorite album of theirs, but they set out to accomplish something and succeeded, although I think there should've been some changes made. There's no denying the musical mastery though, in any of their work. They're fucking spectacular. Glad to see another Dream Theater fan on the boards!
