[/QUOTE] holy crap man, i worked at a thai restaurant for a bit and the deep fryer always scared the crap out of me, that thing gets fkin HOT. thats an intense story.
The guy was ok for the most part. His shoe saved most of his foot and his pants were fuzed to his leg but after several skin grafts and such he even returned to work a few months later. A lot of us got some burns as well just getting him out but nothing like he got.

i always burn myself in the oven for some reason. ... One time i almost caught my house on fire... It was horrible. Like i was cooking something and it was like a long time ago but i had the pot thing too full and like it was on an electric stove and then the next thing i know i see a spark and the stove is in flames and then i screamed and my brother jumped up from the couch and i moved the pot thing and it went down. ahha.. the food was still good though.
Has anyone seen that 'drawn Together' episode where foxy puts a piece of chicken in her cooch and it comes out all fried and steamin? hahaha I wish i could do that.
Is it safe to say anyone who's worked in a kitchen, even for less then a week(i.e. me) has come away with some awesome burns.
There was this one time we got this brand new stove at this seafood restaurant i worked at.. still getting familiar with the flat top portion of the grill.. i had to do a pan fried walleye.. so i put the butter on the grill.. toss the fish on.. and when the time came to flip it.. i flipped it and searing hot butter landed on the top of my hand.. it hurt so fucking bad.. i grab a towel to dab it away and my skin came right off with it.. it burned through a couple layers of skin.. the first aid kit was shot.. so there i was the rest of the night.. having to cook with this huge ass open wound on the top of my hand.. it fucking sucked... i still have a decent sized scar left from the incident
One time this guy I worked with was cooking up a large batch of pasta (20 pounds) and when he was dumping the pasta out of the kettles into his ice bath he forgot to use a splash guard and proceeded to spill ten gallons of boiling water on his leg and foot. His skin kind of got all floppy on his foot and looked like a sock hanging loose off his foot. It was bad. He was in shock and didn't say much but it was still really scary. I've also poured a gallon of 212 degree water on my arm. That hurt like a motherfucker.
In the 7 combined months I worked in restaurants I only got wounded once. This retarded guy that stole my friends job accidentally pushed plates off the back of the dishwashing area and it shattered. I got a nice cut picking it up... Last time I try to be a responsible employee!
