I had to look up Rush Limbaugh to find out who he is. Apparently he is a conservative, nationally syndicated American radio talk show host with 13.5 million weekly listeners. Does that put him up there with Stalin and Pol Pot? Lavrenti Beria, on the other hand, helped carry out Stalin's purges of the thirties, sending millions to slave labour camps in Siberia. Wikipedia.org says this about him:There are numerous allegations that Beria raped women, and that he personally tortured and killed many of his political victims. Charges of sexual assault and sexual deviance against Beria were first made in the speech by a Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Nikolay Shatalin, at the Plenary Meeting of the committee on July 10, 1953, two weeks after Beria's arrest. Shatalin said that Beria had had sexual relations with numerous women and that he had contracted syphilis as a result of his sex with prostitutes. Shatalin referred to a list (supposedly kept by Beria's bodyguard) of over 25 women with whom Beria had sex. Over time, however, the charges became more dramatic. Khrushchev in his posthumously published memoirs wrote: "We were given a list of more than a 100 names of women. They were dragged to Beria by his people. And he had the same trick for them all: all who got to his house for the first time, Beria would invite for a dinner and would propose to drink for the health of Stalin. And in wine, he would mix in some sleeping pills..." By the 1980s, the sexual assault stories about Beria included the rape of teenage girls. The author Anton Antonov-Ovseenko, who wrote a biography of Beria, mentions in an interview a specific and clearly perverted sexual game Beria is said to have forced upon young girls before picking one of them to be raped. This alleged practice got the name "Beria's Flower Game." [The girls were stripped and forced to kneel on all fours, in a circle, heads together. Then Beria went around the circle, raping them while the others watched, or sometimes leading the chosen girl into another room for her rape. Pollination, Soviet style.] Numerous stories have circulated over the years involving Beria personally beating, torturing and killing his victims. Since the 1970s, Muscovites have been retelling stories of bones found in either the back yard, cellars, or hidden inside the walls of Beria's former residence, currently the Tunisian Embassy. Such stories continue to re-appear in the news media. The London Daily Telegraph reported in December 2003: "The latest grisly find — a large thigh bone and some smaller leg bones — was only two years ago when a kitchen was re-tiled. In the basement, Anil, an Indian who has worked at the embassy for 17 years, showed a plastic bag of human bones he had found in the cellars." On the plus side, Beria slowed down to an extent massive executions planned by his NKVD predecessor, Yezhov. He prevented a planned mass deportation of Jews due to Stalin's imagined Doctor's Plot in 1953. And Vyacheslav Molotov, in his memoirs, claims that Beria poisoned Stalin at a dinner in 1953, although more likely Stalin was dying anyway and the various politburo members present saw no point in calling a doctor for the bastard. Me too. That's why I threw out my mirror. Worse then Erzebet1961 (which see) with her makeup off. I'll be dead in twenty years (genetic programming) and then you can all sleep a lot easier. In the meantime, watch out for white Ford vans. I may have your daughter in the back.
Stalin is the worst! I know it for sure... just terrorized the whole nation... and made children sing songs about him like " Stalin is our fame and flight and pride..." My granny still remembers it by heart
Hitler failed as an artist or any other kind of worker prior to WWI. He was down and out in Austria. He excelled as an enlisted soldier, and biographers (Shirer, I think) say he loved the war. Loving the war, in the front lines, was not that popular back then. In four years of war he didn't go higher than corporal. Yes, Hitler was clean. Very clean, surprisingly so for a man who had two girlfriends, Geli Raubul and Renate Mueller, not counting Eva Braun, commit suicide. "Raubal was found dead from a gunshot wound to the heart in Hitler's Munich apartment on the morning of September 19, 1931, at the age of 23. The official cause of death was listed as suicide. It cannot be known how objective the Munich police were in the investigation though, as Hitler already had considerable influence with them. There were many rumours, including one that Hitler shot her (or had her shot) for infidelity since she was killed by a bullet fired from his gun. By all accounts they argued intensely in the days leading to her death." (Wikipedia.org) It has been asserted that Mueller was thrown from a window by the Gestapo on 1 October 1937. Others say she jumped. So, there are suspicions that he was a murderer of defenseless women well before the concentration camp period. As a mass murderer of civilians, he has to rank right up there with Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and Harry S. Truman.
Charles was convicted in 1972 of the murders of Gary Hinman and Donald Shea. He must be about 36 years inside by now, I didn't research it. On May 23, 2007, at age seventy-two, Manson was denied parole for the eleventh time. He will not be eligible for release again until 2012, after a five-year interval that is the longest permitted under California law. Apparently because he considers himself "a prisoner of the political system," Manson did not attend the 2007 hearing; he had had twelve disciplinary violations since his then-last hearing, of 2002. This was fewer than the seventeen serious violations he had had in the pre-2002 interval, during which the violations included "possession of a (blunt object) weapon and threatening to hurt or kill peace officers." Manson is presently an inmate at California's Corcoran State Prison. (Source: Wikipedia.com) I think it is time for the state to show compassion for this man in his twilight years. Men over age 70 are rarely a danger to the public. Furthermore, if I'm a con, especially a lifer, a correctional officer is not a peace officer. A correctional officer is a pig. You have to look at it from the standpoint that all your life the pig has been shoving shit in your face, and now you're shoving back.
If Mr Hitler was a genius, how come he was down and out in pre-WWI Austria? How come he never made it past corporal in four years at the front? How come three of his mistresses (Geli Raubal, Rita Mueller, Eva Braun) committed suicide or were murdered by him or his friends? How come he earned the term "Russia's ablest general" through mismanagement of the Wehrmacht? The only thing Hitler was really good at, and you can't deny this, was making nationalistic speeches. Of course, when you consider the losers he brought in with him, like Himmler, Goering, Heydrich and Speer, he's not so bad by comparison.
I revere the 'grandfather' of passive resistance and non-violence as a means of effecting political change, Mohandas Gandhi, as one of the greatest modern day role models. Saint? I can't make that call, but I will say that Gandhi showed the world the power of peaceful resistance. Afterwards, millions of people knew that violence was no longer the only means of effecting positive change. I know a lot about his life and works, so please tell me what 'evil' he did. You say he did do evil things, so I am asking you to support your accusations. Mother Teresa is possibly the sole contemporary figure I admire even more. She gave her whole lifetime to unconditionally loving the poorest of the poor by personally tending to their ails. She died with nothing material worth any monetary value... unless a habit, sandals, bible, beads, and a few modest belongings to her name. She spent over 60 years giving of herself, without asking, expecting, or desiring anything in return. If anyone can show more devotion to love and peace in modern times, I'd like to see the evidence of it. Evil? Those two? Good joke, for those who like dark humour, dry wit, and irony. If any two folks are less evil, I'd be surprised. Who is my pick? Maybe Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Vlad Tepes, or Caligula. Or maybe any number of tv evangelists who swindle kindly widows out of their lifes savings and buy themselves bling bling, pretending they believe in God, when their actions clearly show they have no conscience at all. The wealthy elite of the world all deserve to be up there too. 'Every great fortune hides a crime.' Balzac? Cheers
Well, the TV Evangelists at least get laid (or so the press says), which is more than I can say for Mother Teresa. Back to the question of evil: We can always expect violence as a manifestation of conflict of interest. Example: I'm in the water after my ship is torpedoed, a shark is attracted by all the blood in the water. He's hungry, I'm bleeding, I don't want to be eaten alive because it will hurt like hell, we have a conflict of interest. Evil is a step beyond violence. Let's say (for the sake of argument) that evil is an act of inflicting pain and suffering for the fun of it. Torturers (such as certain elements in the American military these days, including Lyndie England) fit this definition.
