I really like the first candle foundation. They do research for helping to prevent sids. I'm also a big fan of the Ronald McDonald house. I guess this is a tad off-topic, but if you live near northwest ohio, you should check out Tabfest. They ask people to bring in tabs from pop (or beer) cans, and they recycle them and donate the proceeds from the tabs and the festival to Ronald McDonald House.
i donate to shelters for abused women in memory of my mother who was abused throughout her 25 years of marriage...and had nowhere to go.
Every bit helps, it's the thought that counts, and it's making a difference for someone...even if, say, it's for a couple of people. Quality...not quantity.
I don't donate to charities, nor would I. If I am going to give money away, I would rather give that money directly to someone who needs it. At least then I would know where the money is going. Most charities cannot be trusted. Anyone can set up a charity and say it's for one thing, yet do another with the money collected. And I would NEVER give to an organization like the Red Cross. Most of the money donated to the Red Cross in the wake of 9/11 and Katrina was simply pocketed, and never reached the people who needed it.
You love me you really love me!! He is right though I don only do it about twice a week maybe sometimes more but thats all the clothes I can get in that time from church friends family etc...And I do only end up clothing maybe three or four people yea and and its not as important as food and shelter but I am only one kid. I dont know why you dont like me humanman I never did anything mean to you ahh but too bad I sure in the future I will be handing you some shirts and pants and some shoes...jk. About that part
I donate my old clothes and books usually to either Oxfam or Save the Children. I've also volunteered for both.
Local no-kill shelter, breed specific dog rescue, restoration of our local opera house is where most of my donations go too.
I donate my money to Mango and Top Shop. The good Christian in me just cant resist helping the needy...
Umm amnesty international , get ALL my money and all my clothes toward clothing the homelless, salvation army, missionaries of charity
Charlie Brown, we all admire you, you're extremely brave person to try to make a change by yourself (because, yes, you do make change by giving clothes to needy ones, and never let anyone tell you anything different!)!... I think someone already quoted this, but Ghandi said "Be the change you wish to see in the world", you're setting the example for all of us because every little thing you do means something better in this world....I'm sick and tired about those who complain about social injustice and discuss about world peace, but don't make any effort for making things better!.. So, bless you, my brother, we respect you!... keep on rockin' Now, back on topic, my mother works with underpriviledged children in the Social work center (is that how you call it?) and I give her my old clothes and school books to take to work....And I plan to volunteer for school for mentally chalenged children this summer....
Every year, at my Tae Kwon Do school, we do a Break-a-thon where we take pledges from people, and then break a bunch of boards and bricks and concrete blocks. The proceeds for that go to St Judes. I don't know if it's a "charity" in the same sense that this thread is talking about, but I am part of an organization called "Street Reach" where we go into the highest crime apartment complexes in the city and hang out with the kids. The idea is to just be a positive influence for them, a friend and father figure type. We also help them with their homework and offer spiritual and morale guidance.
