Black Sabbath (Dio years were the best!), W.A.S.P., Mercyful Fate, King Diamond and Iron Maiden top it all for me. I was born way too late, so much great stuff came out that decade.

Too many to just name one! I would have to say Bon Jovi. I had a major crush on him and Richie Sambora lol. Their music was in movie's, and they had great videos!

A band that I did not get into when they first came out in the 70's was The Talking Heads. Became my favorite band in the 80's when their live album and concert movie came out "Stop Making Sense". David Byrne with the big suit. "Burning Down the House", "Life During Wartime", "Once in a Lifetime", "Girlfriend is Better". Then in 1985 their disc in 1985 "Little Creatures" came out, MTV was still all videos then, and it had all these songs about life, things I was experiencing at the time, "Road to Nowhere", "Stay up Late", "Creatures of Love"
made it the greatest disc of the decade for me.

    Guns'n'Roses
    Motley Crue

i would also add Bruce Springsteen because he was very popular in the 80s, although technically he started in 1965 already.
