well, not really 'faux', just easier and tasty! Get 1 package of instant chocolate cake mix, and mix in the ingredients as mentioned on the package. Changes: substitute half the oil with apple sauce, and half the milk/water with yogurt. Use vegan alternatives if you wish. Add: 1 tblsp instant coffee + 1 tsp brown sugar (dissolve in the milk first, mixes in better!), 1 cup of marachino cherries or 1 cup dried cherries that have been soaked in rum for 12 hours, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 tblsp fresh orange rind. Mix it all together, and bake according to package instructions. Let cake cool. Decorate cake with icing, marachino cherries, and chocolate shavings/cocoa powder and serve! Yum!
