Do you gain fat or muscle easily, both fat and muscle easily, or neither?

I both tend to bhoth gain and lose fat pretty rapidly.....with muscle I used to think I was a hardgainer, though, in reality I just wasn't training hard enough

    Mesomorph.
At 5'6" and 150 pounds I fall right into that category it seems.

Very hard for me to gain or loose fat, but I can build muscle pretty well.

I seem to gain neither fat or muscle easily. But to be fair: I could try harder I guess :p

I don't gain either at all it seems. 5'8" and 135 pounds. No matter how much or how long I eat and workout I can never crack past 140 pounds. It's like my metabolic rate adjusts so rapidly that I can't out run it long enough to put on fat, and my muscles just don't seem to want to bulk when doing any kind of weight training.

This has actually been a source of some of my anguish, fear, and sadness for years. It's actually upsetting sometimes, to feel like I can't gain weight.

Fat, yes, Muscle, no. It's really easy for me to gain weight, as in fat, but I've been using an elliptical called the Cybex Arctrainer - maybe you've seen one before, or even used one - but my legs don't seem to gain too much. They're more toned and I'm able to go for longer though.

But I don't lift at all on account of my back. Sciatica.

I have lost about 25 lbs though. I've been dieting since Easter and it's working. :)

neither, i guess. fat is a little easier for me to gain or lose than muscle, but neither one ever seems to change all that much, no matter what i eat or how i exercise.

I think I can gain and lose both rather quickly. I find shortly after I'm on a exercise break, it doesn't take long before I feel bloated and erghh and think I see myself not as toned as I was, so I work at it for 2 weeks and I have the muscle definition I had etc.

I've never worked out what I actually need to do to stay at a consistent weight. Like without having to do anything.

Hm, the more I think of it, the more I realize that I don't know the answer to this question. It's hard because I only have my own experience, and don't know how hard or easy it is for other people to gain fat or muscle.

i don't really think that matters though? the question is just about your experience; other people aren't really relevant here.

i'm guessing it's not easy for you to gain either, based on the pictures i've seen. but maybe you work really hard on keeping your form, i don't really know.
