I work right beside a police station, and always see cops pass me as i walk home from work... And from time to time i like to smoke a joint while walking home... i've been busted for 'j-walking' but never for smoking weed.

what the fuck. J-walking has to be one the most retarded laws i've ever heard of.

Really you been stopped for jay walking usally police dont even bother with that law at least where i'm from they dont

 

lol yes! it was so stupid. I was walking home and it was 11ish, so it was dark, and i had to cross the street, so i did, and i saw a car coming, but all i could see was the headlights, so i assumed it was just a normal car so i ran across... little did i know it was a cop.

So he pulled over and made me walk back across the street, and followed me to the cross walk, such a dick move. And it's ironic, because in order to get back to the other side of the street i had to jay walk again...

I saw the exact same thing happen to some homeless guy a few months ago... he jay walked and a cop stopped and went on his little intercom thingy and was like "sir, please go back and use the cross walk" and he waited there until he did lol...

 

Can anyone tell us Brits what the 'J' in j-walking stands for?

Coz over here,we just spot a gap in the traffic and leg it across the road double-time.

 

lol... i never even thought of that.. i had to google it, got a bunch of different answers.. apparently it's ""jay" refers to a foolish rural person-a rube-unfamiliar with city ways" i guess it makes sense.. no clue if that's actually it though.

Who even thought of this law? Such a waste of time. You know when it's safe to cross, if you're dumb enough to walk directly into on coming traffic.. well then.. maybe you deserve to walk right into on coming traffic lol
