Still its staggering what gets attention and what doesnt. Typhoon Haiyan one of the recent big ones, death toll around 6000 so far, most of them in the first 24hrs, you see the scenes of the devastation and you think fuck. But then if you think in that same 24 hr period, 23 times that many died everywhere else in the world and you didnt hear a peep about them

I can't even imagine how bad it would have been during peak hours. It gets so busy that people literally smush together, doors barely able to close. It's good that so few people were on the trains at that time.

I think it's because being that there are so many of us, there are few cases of people dying in accidents, etc. that we can relate to as a group. Being that this guy was in lots of movies many of us know who he is, and we have that in common.
