(can never remember the author's name) the strainger, more alien, less bloody the better, which is why i'm more inclined toward real science fiction with fantasy elements, or at least scientificly self consistent fantasy. both of jo clayton's skeen series, well skeen and the diadem series i should say. a science fictional fraimwork with gratifyingly endulgent fantasy trappings. ron goulart and harry harrison of course. ah robert aspern! that series with all the pun titles and a demention traveler named azh. warp graphics elfquest. the manga l.u.m. the ursa minor furrys, links from flayrah. pierse anthony's zanth series too. disc world is ok too. i keep thinking of more stone flower and bridge of birds, both featuring number ten ox, another author i can't remember. lots of stuff by fred pohl too, but again that's more real science fiction then fantasy, not the the science in most of them is all that thick or heavy. a.e.schmitz telzy series. science fiction. witches of keris also by him. marinate and simmer badly is of course fantasy (darkover, hense the song horse tamer's daughter) as is andre norton mostly =^^= .../\...
Now most of these will be a repeat of what was already said, but you’ll have that. I enjoyed the Dagonlance too. I am surprised however, that nobody has mentioned the Forgotten realms series. Legacy of the Drow) These are a part of the ‘Forgotten Reams’ series. Ursula K. LeGuin—The Earthsea Trilogy (I would have to agree with <akhc> and <sky pink> on this one.)
