I said, good for dates, but eh I am aware it's not actually good, I know. but until I get to late 20's most girls I'll date only feel good about it because they're getting more money spent on them than applebees. Yes. I am a cynic.
The fancier the restaurant the less food you get for more money. So I only spend a lot of money on food when I am not really hungry.
http://www.hotelzaza.com/dallas/dining_nightlife/dragonfly/ I forgot we went to a party at the Dragonfly at the Hotel ZaZa. But man, that place was retarded. And it was hilarious because they stuck their nose up at Daniel (for his ID because it had just expired, but I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to tell him he looked too poor) at the door outside, but we went inside and the guy checking IDs in there let us right on past, and we got to party in the VIP lounge. It's the only time I've ever had expensive champagne. There was this rich guy in there and he bought everyone's drinks and food. They served tiny cheeseburgers, tiny pizza (which was SO gross), and the best fucking french fries I have ever eaten. It was great.
I grew up eating at a lot of country clubs with my grandaprents and have been taken to some really nice resturaunts on dates, but hae found most of those occasions stressful. What i like about my husband though, is we go to a lot of cool breakfast places and breweries. The last place we went to eat, I think i got a mediteranian veggie pizza and a bellini. We've been to a couple of really nice resturaunts together, but never really seem to have as good fo a time as when we go to a gastronome brewery. Plus, I have a small stomach and don;t handle rich food well, which expensive resturaunts always tend to have. A really nice resturaunt IMO is about a 200 dollar bill for two people (with a normal bottle of wine or two top shelf drinks). One thing I am goign to not like about moving a few hours from home, is Sunday brunch at the country club.
the fanciest i've been to? idk my impression is usually colored more by experience than price. for instance, i've eaten for free and what i personally consider an upscale restaraunt just outside of seattle on vashon island, gusto girls. then again, i've had an amazing dinner at some pricey place on duval st in key west, but i can't remember the name. had a really great lamb dinner there. but some of the best meals i've had have been totally casual outside of any restaraunt. fancy places are nice, but if you can get amazing food another way, it's even better. hell, i had one of the best steaks of my life a few days ago at the house of a friend of the family's. we ate in the gazebo
You know something really weird? I've never ever ever had Indian food and there are no Indian restaurants anywhere that I've ever even seen. I don't know if that's exactly on topic, but it's my thread.
I've had a lot of fancy food since I was little.. thanks to my parents having real good restaurant taste! Particularly in France and Spain.. I've been to ridiculously expensive restaurants where they'd serve you hardly anything on your plate - but it looked so good hehe The fanciest I've been to probably was this restaurant in Paris - I forget the name now.. It's fun, once in a while.. but when you have it a lot you sort of stop appreciating it. Now I could go have some fancy food in a fancy restaurant.. I haven't in a while.. I probably will over the summer since I'm at my parents
http://www.milanoinn.com/ http://www.ruthschris.com/Steak-House/5000/Indianapolis/Downtown And hands down the fanciest place I have ever been: http://www.jeffruby.com/index.php?affiliate_uid=waterfront Live piano, nice river view, serene location...... It was quite amazing, but so was the price. Two beers, a shared salad and a shared steak meal ran about $100 after tip. I would say that while the other two places I linked are a decent bit cheaper the atmosphere they provide doesn't come close to The Waterfront....
I'm going to have to say a little chinese resturant about half an hour from home. My family and I have only really eaten in there two or three times, but we get take-away a fair bit. Usual order is special fried rice, soo shan beef (sp?), satay chicken, chinese crackers and plain steamed veggies on a bed of rice. The reason we dont eat there is because my dad usually ends up making fun of the staff's accents when their backs are turned, my brother burps, my sister and I complain about the smell of his burp (he drinks allot of energy drinks), and mum gets to embaressed she vows we wont eat there ever again. We found a stray dog there once and took him home. Nicknamed him "Dunno" while he was with us cause we couldn't think of a name for him.
The notables include Le Reve San Antonio, which was likely the fanciest and certainly the tastiest; a french restaurant in NY I can't remember the name of but it was incredible and had an unreal wine selection; Uchi, a word-class sushi restaurant in Austin, and A.Sabella's, at Fisherman's Wharf in SF, amazing Dungeness crab. I'm blessed with parents with excellent taste. Both of them are damn good cooks, too.
Oh, I've never eaten anywhere fancy with my family. I've always been fortunate enough to know other people who eat fancy.
