Yes, there was a local pool that had separate changing rooms but everyone changed in the same room and nobody cared. I saw a lot of male and female bodies changing out of wet swim suits.
That sounds great, these were specifically for family groups I had a lido by me were the changing rooms were like that, loved seeing all the different body types naked.
I was told it was for families to change in but because it was the cleanest everyone used it and nobody cared.
Ah cool there was only the one room in the lido, apparently in the seventies it was a clothing optional pool, and was still used that way. The lesiure centre where I went had specific cubicles for families so mum's could go with sons dad's with daughters etc, as well as male and female changing rooms
I mostly went to nudist events so one big room. I did go to some regular ones but did not remember it being any different than nudist. I remember male and female young and old.
It did seem much better in the combined changing rooms, but the nudist ones were in my view better I was never a fan of clothes.
I was not alive but hear kids as old as 11 were allowed to swim nude in pools and beaches up until the 30s then 40s on through the 50s clothes were not allowed in the YMCA pools. Some where we made nudity a sexual thing and turned sex into a forbidden fruit. I have a feeling religion specifically Catholics were a key to this madness they created. I was raised Catholic and now have a great hatred for all the history they have. That history is so repulsive and disturbing and so long!
I remember in the 70s when we used to go to the local pool as kids we would happily walk about naked in the changing room, but by the mid 80,s people looked at you like you were evil and demented to do that, one lido that used to be open in the 70s used to have a secluded area were you could sunbathe nude, bug that was stamped out.
Our local leisure centre had a mix of male, female, and family changing rooms. As a nudist family it was normal to be nude with each other, in fact it was odd to get dressed in a family changing room just to all get undressed together when we got home. In the family changing rooms it was standard for everyone of all ages to walk naked from the showers to the changing rooms anyway.
Many of the places we've been in Europe have non-gender specific changing rooms. Most of the places we go are Naturist, Nudist, FKK anyhow so there is no need for gender-specific changing rooms anyhow.
I remember in the 70s there was a men's side and women's side at the city pool. It was prob the first time I saw naked boys and men. I remember marveling at the size of my friends penis and all his public hair. Never had to take my daughters in to change when they were little in the 90s. Recently went back to the pool and I booties some older boys around 10 going into the ladies room. I change in the men's room now but pray no one comes in when I'm changin, feel they would report me as a pervert. Times change
At our local YMCA there is Men only and Women only and Family change rooms. The family one has cubicles. The other day a new sign on the wall stating that clothing or swim suit must be warn in all common areas and showers, I guess some people were walking around naked and offended someone.
Back in the 70 and 80 most I remember never used changing rooms. They changed with a towel held up right by pool or on beaches. Kids under 14 just changed in open
