This is my first year back in upstate NY area for a very long time... moved from California in June after many years ther so I'm looking forward to it... my mom is a big Halloween nut and I was born on mischief night ha ha... so always enjoyed that time and have missed it being out west for so long
I love halloween time, too....My favorite time of year......favorite month...favorite weather.....Happy time!
well i'm not in the north east of the u.s., nor the north west of europe, nor northern asia. i'm in the west of the u.s., and not nearly quite where i'd most like to be. lost of things are in the air, the future is always up in it. summer's end is a time to be looked forward to, perhaps as devoutly as spring, or close enough to it. its still august here, infamous for the dragging on of summer. all through the summer, maybe once every two or three weeks, we've had the completely mysterious hour or two of percipitation, following which the next day being just as hot or hotter, had it not occured. often pavement being bone dry again less then an hour later. this is a norther, temperate, semi-desert, the basin and range provence that fills the space between the sierras (my true home) and the rockeys, punctuated here and there by north south oriented mini-ranges. being surrounded by urban pavement, that retains and reradiates the heat, doesn't help. air conditioning and shade of course does. (fall for two months, winter for four, spring for at least five, and summer no more then a couple of days, somewhere on the side of a densely forested mountain, THAT would suit me) well i'm happy for people to hear some have the fortune of the first glimpses of summer's end.
was 100 today, gonna be 105 tomorrow, 112 Monday and Tuesday, and in the 100's for about another week and then only in the 90's until October, so no, no fall in the air around here or any cooler weather in the near future.
Yes, fall was definitely in the air this morning. The local family of deer were farting while walking across the field, wind out of the east haha...on their way to the family defecation location. One more month and it's open season y'know.
^ yeah, i saw more deer than usual today too. had to slam on my brakes a couple times to avoid them, and had to slow down a couple more times just to be safe because they were hanging near the road. they're always hanging around here, but there were probably twice as many as usual today.
Here is Pittsburgh, we have warm days til November.. while there is still a coldness in the mornings.. The Ohio Valley funnels warm air from the south.
Officially the first day of fall is on September 22nd but cooler than normal days and nights are a stark reminded of things to come Hotwater
Once it's September, it's autumn to me. Then November is winter, not 21st December. and spring is April. August has been cold and rainy until now - it's warmed up to 25c which is too warm for me. Looking forward to colder days and it getting dark at 4pm. Tomorrow is the last bank holiday until Christmas - so it's coming close.
The weather has been perfect here this weekend, cool mornings and mid 80s during the day with low humidity.
Why did you have to remind me? I HATE hunting season and I have zilcho respect for hunters.... "Hey, me big man...I gonna git me a deer....I gonna kill somethun...."....hardy har har. pfffft.
Sorry, my ancestors ate venison, and I dearly love Deer Summer Sausage. Good lean meat. To each their own... I figured someone would be offended, but that's okay I do understand. If one watched a documentary on how Commercial Beef is prepared, start to finish, you would feel much worse. I do enjoy hunting, brings me back to nature and how our ancestors got us here. My apologies for any offense caused.
i shot my arrow into the sky, and it stuck and yes, i'm fine with you kill it, you eat it, as long as that is what a person actually does. and is damd greatful to the spirit of the life form they take, for letting them do so. back to the air though, i wish fall was in it and all that was.
5.8 months of spring, three each of winter and fall, and two or three days is as long as summer needs to be. but i was going to mention, if i'm not mistaken, this thread was started before harvey made landfall.
