Oh please, our generation sucks as much as the former ones. People didn't had cellphones in the sixties but if they were normal then they would be used just as much. But everything was great then, I know, cause everyone was a hippie back then and violence was just a dream.
hey... absolutely off-topic, i know, but: I HAVE to know, where you`re signature pic is from, Asmodean! it just looks like the future I dream of for myself!!! thx in reward, my friend ;-) Peace & Love Fred
Well, it's pretty much the past hehe. It's the sleeve of Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking. The band is in the background in the garden of (I think) the parents of Sandy Denny, and I thought the couple on the foreground are her parents.
well, thx for the quick answer, asmodean! seems like my future`s in the past, then... says quite a bit about myself... ^^
My pleasure, mate! Personally I look at my future more and more as the new now which seems technically all there is, but the past sure is a mighty intruiging source of looking at new nows indeed.
OP seems most fake out of all this. "You can't just be a modern hippie by wearing clothes that look homemade - you have to know who's playing at the Woodstock reunion!"
Not saying I'm big on the bling-bling gangsta fashion but to judge a person solely on their outfit seems rather stupid to me.
Of course you're right... it's just fashion... It's just that I've never been threatened with physical harm by anyone in hippie clothes, nor have I ever had to call the cops because hippie dressed people are beating my neighbor with chains and lighting a car on fire in my front yard... People in punk-ass Gangsta clothes did that. That was a while back, but when I see people dressed like that now, I still get a little uptight. So yeah, It's a personal problem I'll just have to get over...:cheers2: Hippie clothes simply amuse me and put me at ease. Hurray for hippie clothes! ZW
ohhyeah. or the people who constantly say "peace out" no, you make me dislike you when you say that.-_-
The only thing that bugs me is when girls wear peace signs all over their clothes, jewelry bags etc and then I hear them say "Im gonna kick her ass!" that is not what peace is about.
And what? some people do things for fashion. Deal with it. Wearing a peace sign doesn't mean you have to be a TOTAL pacifist! Just because someone's against war means they can't kick the sh*t out of people who have it coming? grow up. This elitist bullsh*t is part of the reason people don't like hippies.
"fake modern hippies" ,,, hmmmm.. i think it should be "modern hippies are fake".. sadly nowadays if someone tells me they are a hippy, i know there is a 99.9% chance they are nowhere close to what i define a hippy as.
exactly.. :cheers2: but as you see, the younger generation seems to have this need to try and define themselves as one without fully grasping what the word was spawned from. what the first hippies were and where they are now. until they have sat down with a buncha old grey hairs around a fire who still live the ideals the movement was founded on and really listen to what its all about they will continue to look at it with blinders on and identify with little bits and pieces of the big picture.
