I liked Farenheit 451 alot. I've read it like three or four times. I liked the messages of censorship and how ignorant people become when they are not allowed to read books, and how TV is destroying people's minds.

I agree. It was a very interesting concept. I think it's also intriguing how close our society is to that at the same time (although not as extreme, but you see the similarities, yes?).

What I got out of the book was hope and the futility of anti-intelectualism. I could go into greater detail, but don't want to ruin the book for anyone.

A Canticle for Lebowitz has a similar theme.

Shockwave Rider by Brunner is another good distopia.

Revolt in 2100 by Heinlein is another book in the same vein.

    yes I have

    it is my favoritest book

and yes give it a chance first
then again, maybe the concept of a vastly overpopulated world in which food supply and living space is very low is a little too high for you to conceive
plus, he does use some pretty big words

Its sapien to be homo? I don't know about realistic, but its damn funny. Excellent book, and the writing is far better than F 451, which had a great premise but failed to execute in the end.

    zactly
but I just mean realistic far as those futuristic things go
it seems to have the most realistic of the issues of the future
not the whole gay thing as much (necessarily) but everything else
