O.K. then please provide your online bank info, username and password, so we, the public, can view your account.

Since you say it's already "public", we should only need the URL to access your account.

Use your common sense man. Of course my actual bak account number in not public. However that is only so due to matters of criminality, not privacy. If I could show my bank screens without that, then I would.

My spending habits are public though. At last check my bank account figure was $936.14. My last 5 transactions were Mcdonalds 13.10, Coles $31.10, ATM Withdrawal Morley Galeria $40, iTunes 16.99 and Medibank Pvt Health insurance $105.15

See it's all very boring really isn't it. If you want to see more of my spending habits feel free to go to my blippy account where it all gets listed and published online.

Of course we can't see your ONLINE BANK ACCOUNT, because it's PRIVATE, not PUBLIC as you state. Get real.

You don't seem to understand the difference.

But you can BET, Facebook, the C.I.A. and every LEO KNOWS who you bank with at the very least and you NEVER had to tell them or allow them access to that info.

Dammit Facebook, why do I still use you?

Admittedly, it's helped me reconnect with a few friends and I'm grateful for that. But honestly, this is ridiculous. I hope I don't have to deal with any Big Brother shit in my lifetime from this.

No wonder Mark Zuckerberg didn't sell Facebook to Google or any other company. He's getting rich off the government and CIA. What a fucking spoiled, greedy rich kid. Think if this guy wasn't born, we wouldn't have had this.

    By the way:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/leslie-hendry/facebook-timeline_b_988020.html

I don't think everyone will be this gullible to use it, will they? I certainly won't. What's with this Timeline story-of-your-life crap? What happened to going outside and actually asking a person what their life is like and what they've been doing? Why does the government need all this information? They've got more than enough from Facebook as it is. I don't want them knowing my entire existence from birth 'til death.

I think a good part about having a healthy relationship with a friend is being able to ask them about their life and grow by getting to know each other more and more. This Timeline crap is trying to bypass that. I'm so going to be pissed if they force everyone to change to this new profile.

Heh. Looks like the government doesn't need to pass the Real I.D. Act because why bother collecting tracking data of all the citizens when facebook will do all the work for them.

I just can't see as to how this is really such a big deal. There's billions of people very active on the web 24/7. It's not like there's anyone monitoring what I'm doing. Yes. maybe they can access it and maybe they do acess indviduals just for the fun of it but the chances of that happening and happening in a damaging way is pretty unlikely imo.

You can get onto Greenpeace through facebook and that way make comments towards the non-violent DEMONSTRATOR. The will to power is in facebook. Of course, it is thus also the will to biased reflection of the right to fail. We should be by now holding anti-Obama, anti-false-progress, anti-alienation of the understood MAN posters. But no one does this with ME.

And to think just a few weeks ago Skip was considering linking HF with FB.

Anyway, the "tracking" that FB, Myspace, Google and any other such sites do is more for commercial reasons, so they can tailor ads to be sent to your FB account or desktop.
If you frequent sites devoted to kitty cats and related stuff, then it makes better marketing sense to display ads to you that are for cat or pet products rather than car wax. Makes pretty darn good sense to me, from a marketing and profit potential point of view. If you read FB's EULA they clearly state that they do exactly what I described, so it isn't being done secretly or clandestine at all.

I seriously doubt the government actively keeps tabs on FB users, but I'm confident that they have the groundwork laid out that if they wanted to they could use FB and Google to track an individual's activity.

Now, I can't stand FB or any of the other social media sites, so please don't think I'm defending them at all. Never been a member of any of them and never will. Just trying to interject a little rational thought into the discussion. That is not to say that such "framework" can't or won't be used for nefarious purposes, just I doubt that is/was the primary motivation for such features.

Skip said most people don't understand what goes on with these places, as evidenced here by the overly paranoid tone of the original post and subsequent responses.
The tracking is so they can sell your "habits", likes and dislikes to third party marketing firms, again plainly stated in the EULA. Supermarkets do the exact same thing with the "club cards" and crap. Haven't any of you noticed when you check out and the machine spits out coupons for you, they are always for items you purchase regularly or similar items that "fit" with your buying habits?

I highly doubt Skip was ACTUALLY considering linking facebook on here.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he just wanted to gather data about the users' opinions about Facebook and how they'd react to facebook linking with HF. Even if a majority of the polls wanted to merge Facebook with this site, he still wouldn't have actually done it.

THAT's why those fucks keep giving me really lame ads targeted at 12 year olds, with pictures of cop cars on rims twice as tall as the car. My car forum has a facebook like button.

If they paid a little more attention, they might offer to sell me radar detectors, police scanners, and the like, instead of police cars on spinners. Dumb fuckers :2thumbsup:

Not how I remember it being worded, sure sounded as if he was seriously considering it. The poll in question is no longer available it would appear, so.....
But that's not the topic of this thread so....

I think he was just seeing what people here thought about FB w/o telling everyone what he thinks about it.... When he saw that everyone here feels like he does,he decided to open up with us about it...... (Thats how i see it)

I do believe the facebook BOTS may be scanning these bases looking for stuff they can collect! (No way to 100% stop them w/o making the bases members only (The guest group cant read them))

I am sure the govt of many countries would love to get their grubby little hands on the huge amount of info contained within this site.

Put it this way, if there was a vast majority that wanted a facebook link here, I would've considered it after weighing the pros and cons. I already knew what those facebook links entail, that they are used to INFLATE facebook's actual member count by adding in every website's visitors that has an FB link.

Also those links allow facebook to track people's movements thru the site and their IP#s. A very simple thing to do, really. But I was suggesting an OPT-IN routine, so that only those who wished to see facebook links, would see them.

Of course when the results were in, NOT ONE PERSON on this site wanted an FB link! So the case was closed!
