Sites like Facebook exchange your information with other sites much in the same way the stock market trades debt.

Governments and big business specifically target the young and uneducated because they can "produce hysteria" in them. In the case of Facebook, it's all the television, films and sponsored events that promise them popularity. All this hype creates what I call the go fetch the stick effect. If you ever watched some dogs get excited when you pick up stick. You'll understand what I'm talking about.

ie: Here boy go! Here boy! Go fetch the stick! You're a good Boy!!
Versus; Here children and dopes! Here children and dopes! Go imput your personal information and photos. You're good people!!!

At the rate people keep putting up their photos and information, lawyers are going to become very popular and they won't need to have a Facebook account.

Oh well when you get to my age you start to understand the world a little better and how it works.

You don't know what you're talking about. This site isn't located in the USA, and it would take a lot just to get the OK to get one bit of info out of it. Of course the gov't can view info coming and going from the USA, but that's very different from "hacking" into a foreign website. Oh sure it can be done if there are enough resources put to the task, but why bother? We ain't hiding bin laden, that's a certainty now...

And the gov't doesn't need to "hack" into facebook. It's has a huge window and can see everything going on over there, with special tools to filter just what they want.

So, and what if they did? Would they discover who your friends are? Where you work, spend your time, groups you're associated with, where you went/go to school, you're real name, ect.?

    No

No doubt we frustrate the hell out of those LEOs who want and expect more info like they get on Facebook!

So how many ppl feel free enough to post pix of their grow operations on Facebook, eh?

Between what I've read here recently and my actions earlier today I wish I had never heard of Facebook.

I deleted my FB acct this afternoon. Before I pulled the plug I tried to delete all of the info I originally put in about myself. Granted it wasn't very much as I've always had a healthy distrust of the web. Unfortunately they have several tidbits I WASN'T ABLE TO DELETE 100%.

Like I said I wish I'd never heard of Facebook.
