Hi all. I have an [Australian] Shepard. She's a great pet but she also barks at everything. It gets a little annoying at times but they are a noisy breed. I want to train her to bark at certain things only but I am not exactly sure how to go about it. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Some breeds are just a little more barky than others. Just part of their breed. We have a miniature schnauzer and is a great pet but is a barker. He never met a human or other dog he didn't like. We are more into the positive enforcement than the negative enforcement. Our dog has never been hit, spanked, etc. You can make a dog a psychotic, nervous wreck by trying to go against their nature. Best to research the breed before taking him/her home with you.
